According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 17, at the invitation of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay an official visit to Vietnam from August 20-22.

Kazakhstan and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on June 29, 1992. Vietnam and Kazakhstan have always maintained a good traditional friendship, closely coordinated actions and supported each other at the United Nations and other international forums.

Figures show that in 2022, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Vietnam reached nearly 600 million USD. Of which, exports from Vietnam to Kazakhstan reached 525 million USD.

The two sides are striving to increase bilateral trade turnover to 1.5 billion USD by 2030. In March 2023, a trade- economic delegation and Kazakhstani manufacturers came to Vietnam to learn about the investment environment and cooperation partners.

Vietnam is the first country to sign a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Kazakhstan is a member. This agreement opens up great opportunities for Vietnamese businesses in the EAEU market in general and Kazakhstan in particular.

Kazakhstan is Vietnam's second largest partner in the EAEU (after Russia). In 2021, Vietnam-Kazakhstan bilateral trade accounted for 10% of trade between Vietnam and the EAEU.

To facilitate investment, cooperation and people-to-people exchange, the two countries have also opened direct flights connecting each other's major cities.

Since September 2019, Kazakhstan has applied a unilateral visa exemption for Vietnamese citizens for a period of 30 days.
