Kazakhstan President arrives in Hanoi, begins official visit to Vietnam

This afternoon, August 20, the plane carrying President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Kazakh delegation landed at Noi Bai airport, starting an official visit to Vietnam from August 20-22, at the invitation ofPresident Vo Van Thuong.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport were: Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang; Director of the Department of State Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Viet Dung; Vietnamese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Pham Thai Nhu Mai and officials of the Office of the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Kazakhstan side, there was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Vietnam Yerlan Baizhanov and a number of officials from the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Hanoi .

Accompanying President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his visit to Vietnam were: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin; Deputy Chief of the Presidential Office, Special Representative of the President for International Cooperation Erzhan Kazykhan; Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Marat Karabayev; Minister of Culture and Sports Askhat Oralov; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Energy Company KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliyev; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Railway and Transport Company of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Nurlan Sauranbayev; General Director of Samruk-Kazyna Joint Stock Company Nurlan Zhakupov; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Vietnam Yerlan Baizhanov.

Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is the second President of Kazakhstan. He began his term as President from March 2019 to present. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was born on May 17, 1953, in the city of Alma-ata, now Almaty, Kazakhstan. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). He knows 3 foreign languages: Russian, English, Chinese.

This is the first time Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has come to Vietnam as President and also the first visit by a Kazakh President in the past 12 years. The visit takes place in the context of the good development of the relationship between the two countries after 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations.
