At Ban Ve Hydropower Plant, the delegation inspected key locations: Dam, spillway, water intake, 220kV distribution station, temporary Bailey bridge, operating routes...

According to a quick report from Ban Ve Hydropower Company, since the beginning of the year, the weather in the Ban Ve Hydropower Basin has been very complicated. During the dry season, the water flow is much lower than the average of many years, especially, the water flow to the reservoir in July only reached 30% compared to the average of many years. However, in August, Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir received a large and prolonged flood. Specifically, from August 3 to August 9, there was heavy rain in the upstream area of Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir. The common rainfall in the upstream area was over 200 mm, in some places it was over 400 mm.

Prolonged heavy rain caused a major flood in Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir from 3:00 p.m. on August 3 (the water level at the same time was 158.8 m, Qv was 240 m 3 / s). At 1:15 a.m. on August 6, the flood reached its peak with a peak flow of 2,700 m 3 / s. After reaching its peak, the flood continued to remain high and then gradually decreased. The total flood volume in the reservoir as of 10:00 a.m. on August 10 was 774 million m 3 . Ban Ve reservoir has accumulated almost all of the flood volume, contributing to flood reduction downstream.
According to the forecast of the North Central Hydrometeorological Station, the water flow to Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir is currently decreasing but still remains at a high level. To ensure the safety of the project and ensure operation according to the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Ca River Basin, Ban Ve Hydropower Company has sent Report No. 203/BC-TDBV to the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, asking for direction on the operation of Ban Ve Reservoir to reduce flooding downstream. If floodwaters continue to flow, the possibility of having to discharge water is very high.

Faced with the impacts on downstream areas if the flood discharge is implemented, the company has worked with and notified localities to urgently review crop, livestock, aquatic production areas, and people's assets in affected areas to have response plans and minimize damage caused by flood discharge.
Based on the inspection and report of Ban Ve Hydropower Company, Mr. Nguyen Tien Chuong - Deputy General Director of Power Generation Company 1 highly appreciated the fact that Ban Ve Hydropower has almost completely accumulated water in the lake, contributing to reducing floods downstream, as well as the regulation plan if flood water continues to flow. Accordingly, it is noted that Ban Ve Hydropower Company needs to continue to closely monitor rainfall and weather developments in the Ban Ve Hydropower Basin, thereby enhancing proactiveness, developing reasonable response plans, and avoiding being passive with unusual weather developments...
