Attending the event were Mr. Vu Thanh Luu - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society ; Mr. Vu Ha - Member of the City Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Hanoi Party Committee; leaders of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion; leaders of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation - Red Cross Societies of districts, towns and cities, along with 2 outstanding individuals and 113 families and typical blood donors with many achievements honored.

Speaking at the program, Chairman of the Hanoi Red Cross Society Le Tu Luc emphasized: Donating blood to save lives is an activity that many people around the world participate in. In 2005, the World Health Organization, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Blood Transfusion Society and the International Association of Blood Donor Organizations agreed to make June 14 every year "World Blood Donor Day". This is also an occasion to commemorate the person who discovered the ABO blood group system - Austrian Professor Karl Landsteiner (born June 14, 1858). Since 2005, member countries of the World Health Organization have agreed that this is an important event held annually, marked by activities to recognize, commend and honor those who have donated blood, donated blood many times and to encourage other healthy people to participate in donating blood to save lives.
Mr. Le Tu Luc said: Hanoi is proud to be the first locality to launch the voluntary blood donation movement in 1994. Since then, with the annual blood collection results, Hanoi has always been the leading unit in the country in the voluntary blood donation movement.

In recognition of the contributions of individuals who have made great contributions to the work of the Association and the Red Cross movement in Hanoi over the years, Mr. Dao Ngoc Trieu, former Chairman of the Hanoi Red Cross Association, was honored to be awarded the Third Class Labor Medal; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quy, Chief of Office of the Hanoi Red Cross Association, received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.

In 2025, the message of the International Donor Day is “Donate blood, give hope - Join hands to save people”, emphasizing the profound humanitarian meaning of blood donation to save people. Blood donation programs and festivals are always organized with the attention and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels; close coordination with relevant departments and especially the enthusiastic response of volunteers and people participating in voluntary blood donation.

In order to promptly commend and acknowledge the positive contributions of the kind hearts and noble deeds of blood donors, within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee has expressed gratitude and honored 28 families and 85 individuals who donated blood with many achievements with different forms of rewards. In particular, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 families and 5 individuals. The Hanoi People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 families and 1 individual. The Hanoi Red Cross Society awarded Certificates of Merit to 21 families and 79 individuals.
