WWF sponsors more than 114.8 billion VND to implement natural solutions in the fields of forestry and environment.

The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the program to implement natural solutions in the forestry and environment sector, including sustainable forest management and forest quality improvement, contributing to biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and community livelihoods in Quang Tri, sponsored by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

The program has 5 component projects. Including: Project 1: Priority forest landscape restoration; Project 2: Forest management and restoration towards connecting landscape and livelihood; Project 3: Natural solutions for sustainable forest management, forest restoration and biodiversity; Project 4: Minimizing the impact of plastic waste on Con Co Marine Protected Area; Project 5: Climate-adaptive landscape restoration through supporting businesses and community livelihoods.

The program implementation locations are in the communes: Huong Lap, Huong Phung, Khe Sanh, Dakrong, Ba Long, Huong Hiep, La Lay, Ta Tut, Cam Lo, Hieu Giang, Trieu Phong, Ai Tu, Trieu Binh, Trieu Co, Hai Lang, Nam Hai Lang, Vinh Dinh, Gio Linh, Con Tien, Ben Hai, Vinh Linh, Vinh Thuy, Ben Quan, Vinh Hoang and Con Co Special Zone, Quang Tri province.

The total capital for the program implementation until the end of December 2030 is more than 4.6 million USD, equivalent to more than 114.8 billion VND. The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to take the lead, coordinate with sponsors and relevant local agencies to organize the implementation, and use the funding in accordance with the approved program objectives and contents.

The program aims to enhance climate change resilience for inland and coastal landscapes through nature-based solutions to improve the management and protection of forest habitats, forest restoration and connectivity, biodiversity conservation combined with sustainable livelihood improvement for communities in Quang Tri province.
