Since then, the program has become a regular activity on the 14th night of the lunar calendar every month with a socialized method.

“Unlike other lantern nights, tonight is more special because it is the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, marking the unification of Quang Tri Province Newspaper and Radio - Television and in a short time, Quang Tri town will no longer be called Quang Tri town. I, as well as many officials and people of Quang Tri town, feel very emotional today. Later, when the 2-level local government comes into operation, we still hope that agencies and units, including press agencies, will continue to accompany and support to maintain this meaningful gratitude lantern activity,” Mr. Bac shared.

During the years of war to protect the Fatherland, under the rain of bombs and bullets, tens of thousands of liberation soldiers with courage bravely crossed the Thach Han River to fight at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel and forever lie in the midst of the waves of their homeland. Their blood and bones have merged into the sacred Thach Han River, transforming into immortal souls returning to eternity.

The war has long since ended, and today the Thach Han River is considered a martyrs’ cemetery without tombstones. Over the years, the Thach Han River continues to flow, bringing alluvium, shrimp and fish to the people on both banks. The Thach Han River wharf remains a reminder of a time of war and war, where every inch of land and every location is associated with the heroic feats and heroic sacrifices of previous generations.
