Bac Ninh Province launched a campaign to support the Cuban people

BAC NINH - On the afternoon of August 28, the Provincial Red Cross Association coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, the Provincial Youth Union, the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Labor Federation, the Newspaper, Radio and Television of Bac Ninh province to organize a program to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship".

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Thi Ha, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. Also attending were comrade Luong Thi Hong Thuy, Head of the External Relations and Communications Department, Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society ; leaders of a number of departments, branches, sectors and enterprises in the province.

2025 is the “Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year”, commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Cuba (1960-2025). Over the years, the Vietnam-Cuba relationship has become an exemplary symbol of pure, loyal and strong international solidarity.

When our country was still in the midst of war, Cuba took the lead in establishing diplomatic relations with Vietnam, leading international movements to support our nation’s cause of national liberation and nation building. The immortal words of leader Fidel Castro: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood” have become a historical oath, a powerful testament to the great international solidarity. Although half a world apart, the people of the two countries always stand shoulder to shoulder, side by side, and support each other.

Faced with global fluctuations, Cuba is facing many difficulties and challenges such as: natural disasters, epidemics, blockade policies, prolonged embargoes... In such circumstances, the sharing of international friends, especially Vietnam, not only has material value but is also a great source of spiritual encouragement.

Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, with the consensus of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Bac Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society launched a campaign to support the Cuban people. The program takes place from now until October 16, 2025. The goal is to mobilize at least 6.5 billion VND to contribute to providing food, necessities and supporting sustainable humanitarian activities.

The organizers awarded the "Golden Heart" symbol to the participating support units at the launching ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Thi Ha acknowledged the provincial Red Cross Society for proactively advising and organizing the implementation of the program to support the Cuban people. This is a clear demonstration of the role of a "humanitarian bridge", connecting hearts, spreading the spirit of humanity in the community.

To make the movement effective, comrade Nguyen Thi Ha suggested that the Provincial Red Cross continue to promote its core role, act as a focal point in humanitarian activities; inherit and spread the tradition, proactive and creative spirit. Strengthen close coordination with the Union of Friendship Organizations, socio-political organizations, agencies, units, schools and enterprises; diversify forms of mobilization through launching programs, conferences, and seminars; flexibly deploy support reception points.

Besides, it is necessary to promote the application of digital technology, ensuring publicity, transparency, timeliness and efficiency in the implementation process.

He called on Party committees, authorities, mass organizations, business communities and all people in the province to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity, humanity and voluntary contributions according to conditions and capabilities.

News agencies, newspapers, grassroots information systems and digital media platforms have strongly promoted their role in propagating and promptly and vividly reflecting on the program. Thereby, helping all classes of people, especially the young generation, understand, appreciate and continue the pure solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba; turning awareness into action, turning feelings into responsibility to the community.

As of 3:00 p.m. on August 28, 128 groups and individuals in the province had registered to support the Cuban people with a total amount of VND 2 billion 268 million.

The campaign to support the Cuban people is being implemented by the Bac Ninh Provincial Red Cross from now until October 16, 2025.

- Transfer content: UH Cuba - (Name of unit/individual).

- All donations for the program will be transferred to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
