Ea Sup district has 20,299 households, with more than 82,000 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 40.89% of the district's population. The socio -economic conditions of the border district are very difficult; people work on the fields, with unstable incomes. The whole district has 6,350 poor households and 2,958 near-poor households. Therefore, capital from policy bank credit is an important support for people to develop production and contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.
The longan garden of Mrs. Pham Thi Chi's family (Ia Lop commune, Ea Sup district) is invested with policy credit capital. |
The family of Ms. Pham Thi Chi (Thanh Phu village, Ia Lop commune) has more than 2 hectares of longan, half of which has been harvested for the third year. Nearby is a barn raising 20 cows. Her family's property is the dream of many people in this poor land. Ms. Chi said that her family is from Ben Tre province and has been here since 2006. There is no shortage of land in this area, but the weather is unfavorable, and there is no investment in care, so the crops are harvested one year and lost the next. In 2009, she was lent 10 million VND by the Bank for Social Policies to develop cashew cultivation. However, the income from this crop was only enough to pay the principal and interest, so after paying off the old debt, in 2014, her family borrowed 30 million VND in policy credit to develop cow farming. In 2019, she sold some cows to pay off the old debt and borrowed another 50 million VND to invest in renovating the garden and planting fruit trees. Ms. Chi shared: “It is very difficult to do business in this area. Thanks to the policy credit capital, my family has been able to break free and no longer have to worry about poverty like before.”
Another vivid example of overcoming poverty in the border area is the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan in Ia Lop commune. With 8 million VND in loans from the Bank for Social Policies in 2007, Mr. Tuan invested in buying a pair of breeding cows to raise. Seeing that raising cows was effective, every time he paid off the debt, he borrowed more to develop the herd. Up to now, his family owns a herd of nearly 30 cows, worth more than 500 million VND. In addition, his family also has 2 hectares of land growing cashews and mangoes. The model of raising and growing livestock from the Bank for Social Policies credit has helped Mr. Tuan's family escape poverty, build a spacious house and send their children to school properly.
In addition to major programs such as loans for poor and near-poor households, loans for production and business in difficult areas, etc., recently, the labor export loan program in Ea Sup district has also been effectively implemented. Since the beginning of 2025, the whole district has had 21 customers borrowing capital from this program, with a total outstanding debt of nearly 2.5 billion VND.
According to the assessment of the Board of Directors of the Social Policy Bank of Ea Sup district, the labor export loan program has brought positive results, helping many people find jobs, overcome difficulties and change their thinking and ways of working in economic development.

A typical example is the family of Ms. H'Hoan Siu in Ea Sup town. Being a near-poor household, in order to improve their lives, her daughter, Ms. H'Be Ri Siu, intended to work abroad many times, but due to high costs, the family could not manage. In February 2024, the family was able to borrow 90 million VND from the preferential credit capital of the Bank for Social Policies for Ms. H'Be to work in Japan, with a contract term of 3 years, working stably on a farm. With an income of nearly 30 million VND per month, Ms. H'Be Ri Siu has money to send home to take care of her daughter preparing to enter grade 1, invest with her mother in economic development and pay off bank loans.
Mr. Bui Van Trung, Director of the Ea Sup District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office, said that as of May 31, 2025, the total outstanding debt of social policy credit programs in the district reached more than 590 billion VND (an increase of 27.3 billion VND compared to the end of 2024). Policy credit capital has covered all villages and hamlets in the area, helping more than 11,200 customers borrow for production, business, job creation, focusing on industries such as: cultivation, large livestock farming, services... Through social policy credit, it has contributed to reducing the poverty rate of the district in 2024 by 7.07% (from 38.35% to 31.28% at the end of 2024); the near-poor households of the district decreased by 0.9% (from 15.47% to 14.57% at the end of 2024).
Policy credit programs in Ea Sup district have supported investment in production and business for 11,266 poor households and policy beneficiaries; created jobs for 1,128 workers; helped 181 disadvantaged students borrow money to study; built 3,272 clean water and environmental sanitation works in rural areas; built and repaired 414 houses for poor households and 14 social houses for low-income people... |
