Newcastle reach loan deal for Ramsdale
Newcastle have agreed a loan deal for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton with an option to buy for €21 million ($22.8 million) at the end of the season, Sky Sports reports. Ramsdale, 27, will soon arrive at St James' Park for a medical .
Initially, Newcastle aimed for James Trafford (Burnley) but the deal fell through at the last minute when Man City jumped in and activated a buy-back clause worth 31 million euros ($33.7 million).
Liverpool may say goodbye to 7 key players
According to Liverpool Echo, after Trent Alexander-Arnold, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, Vitezslav Jaros, center back Jarell Quansah and Nat Phillips, the Anfield team continues to face the risk of saying goodbye to 7 more players in this summer transfer window.
Among them, Luis Diaz is almost certain to join Bayern Munich. The remaining six names include: Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott, Ben Doak, Tyler Morton and one of two left-backs Kostas Tsimikas or Andy Robertson.
Darwin Nunez is being tracked by AC Milan and top clubs in Saudi Arabia. Federico Chiesa has expressed his desire to return to Serie A. Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott wants to leave to get more playing time, with Fulham, West Ham and Nottingham Forest interested. Tyler Morton is on Lyon's radar. The left-back position is also becoming crowded, with Tsimikas or Robertson likely to leave.
Chelsea close in on young centre-back Jorrel Hato
According to The Athletic, Chelsea is close to completing the deal to sign central defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax for a minimum fee of 40 million euros ($43.5 million), excluding add-ons. The two sides are still negotiating the final details.
Hato (19 years old) has reached a personal agreement with Chelsea and proactively asked to miss the recent friendly match with Como to avoid the risk of injury. Although only 1.82m tall, the Dutch international stands out with his composure, physical foundation and passing skills. In the 2023/24 season in the Eredivisie, he had the highest passing accuracy rate.
At 17 years and 8 months, Hato captained Ajax. He was also the second youngest player in the history of the Netherlands national team after Matthijs de Ligt, when he replaced Van Dijk in the EURO 2024 qualifier against Gibraltar.
Dortmund eyeing Leandro Trossard
According to Sky in Germany, Borussia Dortmund is targeting Leandro Trossard to replace Jamie Gittens – who recently moved to Chelsea for 65 million euros ($70.8 million).
Trossard, 30, has only two years left on his contract with Arsenal. The Gunners are ready to negotiate if they receive a reasonable offer. In addition to Trossard, Dortmund are also considering the possibility of bringing Jadon Sancho back to the Bundesliga, but the deal has been hampered by Man United's refusal to let him go for cheap.
Everton sign Adam Aznou from Bayern
Everton have confirmed the signing of Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich on their website. The fee has not been disclosed, but the 19-year-old left-back has signed a four-year contract with the Goodison Park team.
Aznou has only made two appearances for Bayern's first team. In February, he was loaned to Valladolid, where he played 13 times in La Liga. The Moroccan-born player has three caps for his country.
Inter raise price to buy Lookman
According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter Milan has just raised its offer to buy Ademola Lookman to 40 million euros (about 43.5 million USD) with 5 million euros in additional fees (5.4 million USD). However, Atalanta still maintains a tough stance: only negotiate if they receive the full 45 million euros (48.9 million USD) plus additional fees.
Barring any surprises, the deal could be completed this week. So far, Inter have only added two new players: Nicola Zalewski (6.5 million euros from AS Roma, equivalent to 7.1 million USD) and Ange-Yoan Bonny (23 million euros from Parma, about 25 million USD).
Thomas Muller's "strange" deal at MLS
Thomas Muller (35 years old) has officially joined Vancouver Whitecaps, but not as a free agent as expected. After the end of his contract with Bayern Munich, Muller was approached by FC Cincinnati but did not reach an agreement because the team no longer had a "Designated Player" position and only offered a salary of less than 2 million USD, 1 million USD lower than the former German player's expectations.
Ultimately, Cincinnati decided to sell Muller's discovery rights to Vancouver for $400,000 — a unique MLS mechanism that gives the club priority in negotiating with international players.
The deal shows the difference in how North American soccer operates compared to Europe, where free agents can negotiate freely without being bound by registration rights.
