The patient is Mrs. PTC, 75 years old, residing in Tam Hiep ward. Before coming to the hospital, Mrs. C.'s eyes were blurred, making her unable to see and needed help eating.

Specialist Doctor I Hoang Vinh Ha, Professional Director of Hanoi - Dong Nai Eye Hospital, said: Ms. C's right eye has diabetic retinopathy in the proliferative stage, with the formation of new blood vessels, a lot of bleeding in the eye and retina, vitreous, and severe macular edema. The patient's left eye also has scattered hemorrhages in the retina.

The patient then underwent cataract surgery. After surgery, Ms. C.'s left eye could see clearly, and her vision improved to 8/10. As for her right eye, due to severe diabetic retinopathy, a few days after surgery, the patient was injected with intraocular medication and growth hormone, and her vision improved to 3/10.

According to Dr. Ha, if the patient comes for examination and surgery later, there may be serious complications such as vitreous hemorrhage and retinal detachment. At that time, surgical intervention will be very difficult.
