(HG) - The outstanding results in implementing Resolution No. 08 dated April 10, 2017 of the Provincial Party Committee "On strengthening and innovating the Party's leadership over the Hau Giang peasant class in the period of 2017-2020 and the following years" are that the Farmers' Association at all levels has improved the effectiveness of farmer support activities, promoted the role of farmers as the main subject in agricultural development, rural economy, and new rural construction.

Farmers in the province have promoted their leading role in developing agriculture and the rural economy .

Specifically, the association has coordinated to mobilize farmers to participate in cooperatives and cooperative groups with more than 20,400 members, reaching 15.49% of the total number of farmer households in the province; built 8 value chain production models in 8 districts, towns and cities and 75 value chain production models in communes, wards and towns, attracting 2,059 members to participate. Along with that, Hau Giang farmers have increasingly affirmed their role as the subject in agricultural and economic development, creating 283 OCOP products recognized as meeting 4-star and 3-star standards, contributing to ensuring food security, maintaining political stability and social order and safety.

Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, assessed that Resolution No. 08 has been seriously implemented by Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, and socio- political organizations. However, the limitations encountered are that the propaganda and mobilization of cadres and members has not really gone into depth; the content and form of activities of the Farmers' Association, although interested in innovation, are still slow; the quality of activities of some agricultural cooperatives and farmers' cooperative groups has not met the requirements; the value chain linkage model is not really sustainable, small-scale, and low in efficiency.

To better implement Resolution No. 08 in the coming time, Mr. Dong Van Thanh suggested raising awareness and responsibility of Party committees, Party organizations, and leaders in leading, directing, and organizing the implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies for the Farmers' Association. Strengthening and perfecting the organization of associations at all levels in a way that is close to the grassroots, practical, effective, and suitable for the development process.
