PROMOTING INTERNAL STRENGTHS, MOBILIZING EXTERNAL STRENGTHS
The Provincial Farmers' Association currently has 267,869 members. In recent years, the Associations at all levels have always taken advantage of the leadership of the Party Committee and the government, closely coordinated with agencies, departments and branches at the same level to carry out many activities on social security to help poor households and vulnerable groups in the Association system to improve their lives, such as: Movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably"; "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas"; "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind" and promoting activities to support farmers in economic development.
Through specific actions, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in Tien Giang province have always performed well their role as companions, helping farmers feel secure in their work, develop the economy and escape poverty. Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tien Giang province Pham Van Toan said that the associations at all levels have coordinated with all levels and sectors to propagate,educate , introduce policies and guidelines on poverty reduction and good practices, effective production and business models; disseminate knowledge, experiences, and typical examples of efforts to escape poverty for members and farmers; raise awareness of poverty reduction work. At the same time, introduce ways to access basic social services for the poor and near-poor in terms of: healthcare, education, housing, clean water, environmental sanitation, etc.

In addition, the Association has deployed and implemented policies to support production, education incentives, credit incentives, vocational training, labor export, job creation, etc. to the Association's bases. Since then, it has gradually changed the face of the countryside and stabilized people's lives. In addition, the Association at all levels also participates in reviewing and classifying poor households, reporting the list of poor member households annually and assigning specific targets to the branches to help households escape poverty; improve the lives and increase incomes for the poor; maintain political security and social order and safety.
Promoting the spirit of "mutual love and support", helping each other to develop the economy and reduce poverty, the Associations at all levels in the province have actively promoted the implementation of the movement of farmers helping farmers, resulting in 482 households being helped and supported with seedlings, livestock, agricultural materials... with a total amount of 4.2 billion VND and 438 working days.
Activities to support capital, materials, fertilizers, science and technology for farmers continue to be promoted. Farmers' Associations at all levels are entrusted with banks to lend farmers capital to develop production and business and effectively implement projects and programs to support farmers. In addition, the Associations at all levels coordinate with departments, branches, units and enterprises to organize 467 training sessions, transferring science and technology to 18,514 officials, members and farmers; provide guidance on building 2 smart rice farming models, reducing emissions in the summer-autumn crop of 2024 in Go Cong Tay and Go Cong Dong districts; Support members to convert to high-tech agricultural production models and value chains: Growing durian, dragon fruit, ornamental flowers, organic coconut, high-tech shrimp farming... Thereby, by 2024, the whole province will have 129,178/172,238 farming households registered as good producers and traders at all levels.
SOCIAL SECURITY
Continuing to promote the spirit of "mutual love and support", "the rich help the poor" of the nation, the Farmers' Association at all levels in the province continues to care for the poor and those in difficult circumstances. Every time Tet comes, thousands of members and farmers in difficult circumstances in Tien Giang receive warm gifts in the "Tet doing charity work" program. This is a humane activity that has been widely implemented by Farmers' Associations at all levels for many years. For the 2024 Lunar New Year alone, the Associations at all levels mobilized 8,793 gifts, with a total value of over 1 billion VND, to send to members in difficult circumstances. Although the gifts are not large in material terms, they are full of affection, helping people have more conditions to celebrate Tet more fully and warmly.
This movement will continue to be maintained and expanded in 2025. With strong influence, the Farmers' Associations of districts, cities and towns have mobilized 8,888 gifts, worth more than 4.1 billion VND - an impressive number demonstrating the spirit of "mutual love and support", joining hands to take care of members and farmers. In addition to taking care of material things during holidays and Tet, the Farmers' Association of Tien Giang province also made a strong impression with the "Farmers' Warm Home" Program, which is an activity to support the construction of houses for poor members, helping them settle down and find work. In 2024, the Association at all levels coordinated with businesses and philanthropists to build 49 houses for poor farmers, including the contribution of Tien Giang Lottery One Member Co., Ltd., with 2 houses worth nearly 80 million VND. The total support value in the year was up to 2.35 billion VND.
In just the first few months of 2025, 17 more “Farmer’s Shelters” were built with a total cost of 850 million VND. The solid houses springing up in the countryside are vivid evidence of the Association’s determination to care for the lives of its members.
Not only taking care of poor members, the Provincial Farmers' Association also demonstrates its responsibility to the community through many humanitarian, charitable and humane activities. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the Association at all levels coordinated to visit and present gifts to 339 policy families, with a total value of nearly 241 million VND. In addition, one of the touching highlights was the program "Gratitude to Phu My village - Lighting up dreams for children" in collaboration with Ngoc Phuong Monastery (Ho Chi Minh City), with a total cost of 140 million VND. Thereby, the Association presented 150 gifts to the poor, 50 scholarships and supported the scholarship fund, helping children overcome difficulties to go to school.
The success of the social security work of the Farmers' Association at all levels in Tien Giang province cannot be achieved without the support of organizations, individuals, businesses and especially the response of the community. The model of helping each other on the spot has been effectively implemented in many localities such as: People with conditions are given interest-free loans, given trees and seeds, provided with production techniques, introduced to jobs...
In addition, religious organizations and places of worship have also actively joined hands. They not only build bridges, build houses, and give gifts, but also bring comfort and spiritual support to the less fortunate. These actions, though small, are a warm flame spreading in every alley, fostering a strong solidarity bloc. With the motto "Towards the grassroots, for the members", the Farmers' Association at all levels of Tien Giang province is gradually affirming its role as the center and core in social security work in the locality.
