Promoting the potential of ecotourism and community

As a mountainous district located in the Northeast of the province with many unique landscapes and indigenous cultures, Dam Ha district has many advantages to develop tourism types and products, especially eco -tourism and community tourism.

Since the beginning of the year, Quang An commune (Dam Ha district) has hosted 3 major cultural events, exploiting the potential of natural landscapes and traditional cultures of ethnic groups in the area. These are Ba Nhat Highland Market; San Co Summer Greeting and Dam Ha District Open Men's and Women's Volleyball Tournament 2024; San Co Independence Festival. The events are organized and connected in the direction of community tourism, connecting and maximizing the advantages and potentials of the locality, while preserving and promoting unique cultural identities in modern life.

Not only in Quang An, the development of community and ecological tourism products has been directed by Dam Ha district for many years, becoming a new spearhead in the local socio-economic development. On April 24, 2019, the District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 22-NQ/HU on tourism development in Dam Ha district until 2025, with a vision to 2030.

The district's goal is to strive for tourism to become an important economic sector by 2025, accounting for an increasingly high proportion in the district's economic structure. At the same time, diverse, branded, unique and competitive tourism products will be expanded, attracting more and more tourists, becoming one of the favorite destinations for visitors from within and outside the province...

After 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 22-NQ/HU, there have been positive changes in the economic service picture of Dam Ha district. Most notably, the transport infrastructure and services serving tourism development have received investment attention; some types of tourism services have developed strongly.

In the district, tourist routes and destinations have been defined with types of resort ecotourism, service tourism, ecotourism combined with cultural tourism, experiential tourism... Including tourist destinations such as: Stork forest, Hua mountain flagpole, Bach Van waterfall, Da Dung island, Dam Ha communal house - pagoda - temple relic cluster, Viet Huyen garden house ecotourism area... The total number of visitors to the area has increased gradually over the years. Specifically, in 2022, the district welcomed 35,500 tourists; in 2023, it reached 47,000 tourists; in 2024, it strives to reach over 54,000 tourists.

Identifying that development is not yet commensurate with its potential and advantages, Dam Ha district is continuing to focus on strategic solutions, including researching and building mechanisms and policies to improve infrastructure for tourism, attracting investment into the area; prioritizing the development of high-quality human resources; innovating management and planning for tourism development, which is still limited... In particular, continuing to focus on raising people's awareness of ecotourism and community tourism, so that each person is a tour guide in promoting, building and developing tourism products of their hometown.

Recently, the People's Committee of Dam Ha district has coordinated with the Department of Tourism to organize training courses to raise awareness of ecotourism and community tourism for officials and civil servants in charge of state management of tourism in the district and all communes, towns, and village, hamlet and neighborhood cadres. Especially, there is the participation of the community that is participating and wants to participate in developing community tourism associated with rural tourism development in the district. Trainees are introduced and guided through the steps of developing a plan to develop community tourism; practice some skills in communication and behavior with guests; survey the ecotourism model being implemented in Tam Lang village, Quang An commune... Thereby contributing to orienting and promoting the need to develop community tourism among the local people.
