Prime Minister directs to rectify gold market: Domestic gold price hits record high

(HTV) - Domestic gold prices have just set a new record, surpassing VND135 million/tael, maintaining a difference of up to VND20 million compared to world gold prices. In this situation, the Prime Minister has requested relevant agencies, especially the State Bank and the Government Inspectorate, to intervene to regulate the market.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed: "The Government directs relevant agencies to take action to prevent market manipulation, hoarding, and price gouging in the gold market."

To stabilize the market, the Government issued Decree 232 on the management of gold trading activities, effective from October 10, 2025. Accordingly, the State Bank will grant licenses to businesses and banks to produce and trade gold bars and jewelry.

Deputy Governor of the State Bank Pham Thanh Ha said the State Bank is urgently drafting a document to guide Decree 232, ensuring transparency and creating favorable conditions for businesses. The State Bank will also closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the Government Inspectorate to effectively implement gold market management.
