On the afternoon of June 12, the Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Examination Council announced the results of the second round of the 2025 exam.
This exam session has a total of 92,246 candidates taking the exam at 34 exam clusters, 80 exam locations located in 11 provinces and cities from the Central to the Southwest. In total, both exam sessions have 152,792 candidates taking the exam, equivalent to 223,179 exam entries.
The candidate with the best result in the second round scored 1,122/1,200 points, 62 points higher than the valedictorian in the first round. The average score in the second round was 718.7 points, 100 points higher than the first round. The lowest score was 81 points.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment, Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that the score distribution of the second round is close to the standard distribution, the score range is wide, and tends to skew right (higher) compared to the first round.
Dr. Chinh explained that out of the total of more than 92,000 candidates, about 65,000 had experience in taking the test and had a better test-taking mentality because they had participated in the first round. This was a group of candidates with good or better abilities, and their first round test scores were higher than the average. Candidates had more time to review and consolidate their knowledge, so their results improved.
This person commented that the scale of the exam has been increasing since 2021. In 2025 alone, the number of candidates increased by nearly one and a half times compared to previous years. However, the exam results are still stable when the average score is around 640-665, the median score is from 629-654.
"The rate of questions achieving good and very good discrimination reached 94.2% in the first round and 96.7% in the second round, affirming the good classification ability of the exam, in line with the goal of assessing capacity for university admissions," said Mr. Chinh.

Currently, more than 110 highereducation institutions have registered to use the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam for admission in 2025.
