According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the third round of negotiations on the Bilateral Agreement on Reciprocal Trade between Vietnam and the US was held from June 9-12 (Vietnam time) in Washington, USA.
According to the negotiation delegation's assessment, in 4 days, the Vietnamese and US negotiation delegations made much progress, narrowing the gap in all areas of negotiation.
The two sides discussed frankly and constructively the issues of concern of each country as stated in the Response Document that Vietnam sent to the US, and took time to listen to the analysis and explanations towards suitable solutions that both sides could accept.

Ambassador Jamieson Greer, Chief of the US Trade Representative, highly appreciated the goodwill and efforts from Vietnam throughout the negotiation process.
In addition, the two sides also agreed to hold an online meeting in the coming days to continue discussing outstanding issues and prepare for online negotiations between US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick was pleased to meet again with Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien after the previous negotiation session held in the United States in May 2025.
On the afternoon of the 4th working day (the last session of the technical-level negotiation session), Minister Nguyen Hong Dien had a negotiation session at the same time with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Ambassador Jamieson Greer, Chief of the US Trade Representative. This is the first time the US has proposed a form of ministerial-level negotiation in such a way.
At the negotiation session, based on the results of the 4-day negotiation between the two sides, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien proposed a number of ideas to promote the process and bring about the negotiation results.
Both US Ministers appreciated Vietnam's goodwill and efforts in negotiations and basically agreed with the ideas put forward by Minister Nguyen Hong Dien, considering them an important basis for the two sides to continue discussing necessary work to promote the achievement of an agreement between the two countries.

Within the framework of the third round of negotiations, on June 13, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien had a negotiation session with Ambassador Jamieson Greer, Chief of the US Trade Representative.
After the plenary session with the two US Ministers, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien had a direct discussion with Minister of Commerce Howard Lutnick to clarify the contents discussed at the plenary session.
Minister Lutnick affirmed that the US highly values its relationship with Vietnam and wants Vietnam to develop strongly. He acknowledged Vietnam's suggestions and concerns and said he would coordinate with the US Trade Representative to find an appropriate solution.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the assessments of Minister Lutnick and Ambassador Greer and affirmed Vietnam's determination to build and promote economic and trade relations with the US in a balanced and sustainable manner for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries.
The Ministers agreed to assign technical levels of both sides to continue to increase exchanges to soon reach an agreement in accordance with the expectations and conditions of each side.
