Technical opening of Tran Hoang Na bridge, connecting Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang districts

On December 30, Can Tho City People's Committee held a ceremony to open the technical traffic of Tran Hoang Na bridge under package CT3-PW-2.4 of the Can Tho City Development and Urban Resilience Project (Project 3). The project has an investment capital of more than 790 billion VND, ODA loan from the World Bank, invested by the Can Tho City ODA Project Management Board.

Tran Hoang Na Bridge connects the two banks of Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang districts.

Tran Hoang Na Bridge is a grade I project, starting at Ninh Kieu bank, ending at Cai Rang bank. Ninh Kieu bank width is 37m, Cai Rang bank width is 23m. Bridge width at main span is 23m, side span is 29.3m, at observation deck is 34.6m. Total length of main bridge is 586.9m, including approach road is 820m.

The bridge is built as a steel arch bridge, running in the middle with 3 spans according to technical specifications 49+150+49m. Clearance height 7m, space clearance on both sides 4.75m.

Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, said that the Tran Hoang Na bridge project started on September 18, 2020. The implementation process encountered many difficulties, especially the Covid-19 pandemic, but with the efforts of the government and the support of the people, the project was basically completed in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Can Tho City being directly under the Central Government.

Tran Hoang Na Bridge is parallel to Nguyen Van Linh Street, which has been severely congested in recent times. The completion of the construction of Tran Hoang Na Bridge and Street will help reduce traffic on this route. Another obvious change is the connection of Ninh Kieu District with Nam Can Tho Urban Area, Can Tho City Central Bus Station (Cai Rang District)... which will be convenient, significantly shortening travel time. This is one of the wishes of people living in the affected areas of the project in particular and of Can Tho City in general.

Tran Hoang Na Bridge is one of the key projects to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Can Tho City being directly under the Central Government.

"This is a key project, playing a very important role in the city's socio-economic development. The completion of the project can be seen as an opportunity to improve the architectural elements across the Can Tho River, creating a highlight for the city, increasing the attractiveness for visitors, especially river tourists", the Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee shared.
