Started on September 4, 2024 and completed on July 21, 2025, the project to renovate the drainage system and underground information cables and lighting on Hung Vuong - Ly Thai To street to create a model street has reached the finish line. The entire cable and lighting system has been buried underground, the sidewalk surface has been paved with stone to create a new, spacious and modern street.
Nowadays, many people passing through Hung Vuong - Ly Thai To street (Thanh Khe ward, Hai Chau ward) no longer see bundles of information cables running horizontally and vertically on electric poles connecting to houses on both sides of the street, because they are all underground, making the entire length of the street more open and clean than ever.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Minh, who lives on Ly Thai To Street, shared: “Previously, Hung Vuong - Ly Thai To Street had a tangled mess of electric wires and telecommunication cables. After being underground, the road is beautiful, bright and especially ensures traffic safety and fire prevention, so everyone is excited. Every day when I travel on this road, I feel the open space and the streets are more beautiful.”
Not only does it bring aesthetic benefits, underground electrical and telecommunication systems also increase safety and stability.
Mr. Le Van Hung, a technology car driver, said: “Every rainy season, I worry about falling electric wires. Once I saw sparks flying out, which was very dangerous. Now I feel more secure because the wires are underground, and the network signal is less unstable when driving.”
Ms. Le Thi Tuyet (a business owner in Con Market) said: “People like me feel secure because there are no more tangled wires and cables hanging high up, especially during the rainy season when broken wires and short circuits often occur. Now, the face of the city is brighter, neater, more civilized, more modern, everyone is happy.”
According to Da Nang Electricity Company Limited, undergrounding the lighting system not only makes the streets more beautiful, but also makes management and operation easier and safer. Previously, the pole grid was prone to falling trees or objects hitting the joints, which could cause accidents; now the grid is underground, so there is no need to worry about such accidents anymore...
At the same time, undergrounding the power, lighting and telecommunication cable systems not only helps increase sustainability and reduce weather-related incidents, but also facilitates management and maintenance. This is also one of the solutions to build a smart, modern city, towards a safer and more civilized living environment for people.
Only by being on the road during the days leading up to the National Day on September 2nd can one feel the “transformation” of the entire road. This road, which used to be crisscrossed with power lines and telecommunication cables, has now been completely buried, the sidewalks are clear, and people can enjoy it with peace of mind.
The atmosphere was also more exciting when the Project to renovate 4 inner-city roads Phan Chau Trinh, Le Loi, Hoang Dieu and Ong Ich Khiem with items such as renovating the drainage system, burying power lines, information lines, lighting lines, replacing and planting additional trees; relocating the water supply system, installing additional fire hydrants; installing curbs, re-paving sidewalks with natural granite and renovating the reinforced asphalt concrete road surface.
With an investment of nearly 282 billion VND from the local budget, the project is being accelerated, burying the entire power grid, telecommunication cables... making this area even more special.
