Deo Ngang tunnel connecting Quang Tri with Ha Tinh opened

On the morning of July 16, the Railway Project Management Board ( Ministry of Construction ) and Song Da 10 Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to open the Deo Ngang tunnel connecting the two provinces of Quang Tri and Ha Tinh.

Deo Ngang Tunnel Expansion under Package XL-CHQL1-02 of the Project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 (Xuong Giang, Gianh, Quan Hau bridges and Deo Ngang tunnel) started construction on January 13, 2025, with a value of VND 219.87 billion, with the Railway Project Management Board as the Investor.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Deo Ngang tunnel, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, General Director of Song Da Joint Stock Company (the construction unit), said that the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion is 650m long, the tunnel body is 555m long, 10.5m wide with 2 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h. The tunnel route across Hoanh Son mountain range is located in Hoanh Son ward ( Ha Tinh ) and Phu Trach commune (Quang Tri). After completion, Deo Ngang tunnel will have a total of 2 tunnels, 4 lanes (combined with the existing tunnel).

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, to carry out the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion project, the construction unit mobilized 130 people along with more than 40 vehicles and main equipment. The engineers and workers overcame all difficulties to complete the task, 1 month ahead of schedule; at the same time, they made up for the slow progress in handing over the construction site as well as the time for test blasting before mass construction.

Mr. Mai Xuan Tan, Project Management Director, highly appreciated the efforts of the contractors in the Joint Venture to ensure the project progress and eliminate risks during the construction process. The opening of the Deo Ngang technical tunnel marked an important milestone, responding to the trust of the investor. In the coming time, the investor also requested the construction unit to focus all resources, striving to basically complete the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion project to put it into operation by the end of 2025.

On this occasion, the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) also presented gifts to encourage officers and workers constructing the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion project./.
