Ancient Egyptian golden city suddenly revealed after 3,500 years

Archaeologists were amazed to discover the lost golden city of ancient Egypt, dubbed the “Pompeii of the East”, located near Luxor.

While excavating an area between the temple of Rameses III at Medinet Habu and the temple of Amenhotep III at Memnon in search of the Temple of Tutankhamun, an Egyptian expedition led by Dr. Zahi Hawass discovered a strange and unique architectural complex. One notable discovery was a jar containing 10kg of dried meat with the inscription: “Year 37, meat prepared for the third Heb Sed festival from the slaughterhouse of Kha’s livestock yard by the butcher Luwy.” Photo: @Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
