Soc Trang City completes the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

STO - On the afternoon of June 25, at the People's Committee of Soc Trang city, the Steering Committee for the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Soc Trang city held a summary meeting of the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in the city. Attending the event were comrade Ho Thi Cam Dao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, Soc Trang City Party Committee.

With the drastic and synchronous direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the strong participation of the entire political system, by June 10, 2025, Soc Trang city had completed the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses ahead of schedule; with 258 houses supported, of which 82 were newly built and 176 were repaired. The beneficiaries include: people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs (35 houses), poor households, near-poor households (208 houses) and other disadvantaged households (15 houses).

The total budget for implementing the program throughout the city reached over 10 billion VND, mobilized from many sources such as: central and local budgets, regular spending savings, socialization and contributions from households. In addition, mass organizations and communities have supported nearly hundreds of working days. The highlight in implementing the program is the flexibility and creativity of wards and mass organizations. Many effective models have been promoted. The direction and operation work has been carried out resolutely, consistently, publicly and transparently. Ensuring that 100% of households are supported to the right target, without duplication. After support, all households have stable housing, improved living conditions and peace of mind in working and producing.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Ho Thi Cam Dao emphasized that the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is a major, correct and timely policy of the Party and State to achieve the goal of ensuring social security "leaving no one behind". On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also acknowledged and commended the urgent and drastic participation of the entire political system of Soc Trang city in implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Thereby, it is also requested that Soc Trang city complete the synthesis and hand over all documents and lists of households receiving housing support, as a basis for organizing a new apparatus to continue monitoring, supporting policies later and increasing the mobilization of social resources, continuing to promote the spirit of "The State and the people work together", joining hands to care for the poor not only in terms of housing but also supporting livelihoods, jobs, healthcare,education , etc.

At the conference, 8 groups and 16 individuals with many achievements in implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Soc Trang city were awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of the City People's Committee.
