November 2024, Cao Bo Expressway expansion project starts

Regarding the progress of investment preparation for the expansion of the North-South expressway in the East, the Cao Bo - Mai Son section, in an exchange with Giao thong Newspaper, a representative of the Ninh Binh Department of Transport said that after the Ministry of Transport approved the investment project, up to now, the work of issuing bidding documents to select consultants for technical design is being implemented.

It is expected that in September 2024, the technical design will be approved, with the selection of a construction contractor in October and the project starting in November this year.

"The procedures for preparing for investment in expanding the expressway are proceeding very smoothly, without any problems arising," a representative of the Ninh Binh Department of Transport informed.

According to the investment plan approved by the Ministry of Transport, the Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway expansion project has a total length of more than 15km. The starting point connects with the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway in Yen Bang commune, Y Yen district, Nam Dinh province.

The end point of the project connects with the North-South expressway project, Mai Son - National Highway 45 section, in Mai Son commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province.

The project is invested in the scale of a class 100-120 highway, with a design speed of 100-120km/h, expanding 2 lanes on the left side of the existing road, and the roadbed width is expanded to 15.25m (ensuring a completed scale of 6 lanes, roadbed width of 32.25m). The route direction is kept the same as the route direction of the invested and constructed phase.

There are a total of 7 bridges on the highway. Of these, 3 bridges (Nam Binh Bridge, Dong Thinh Bridge, Mai Son Bridge) have been invested in, ensuring a scale of 6 lanes, adding a rough layer on the bridge surface.

For 4 bridges: Cao Bo bridge, Cam bridge, QL10 overpass, Quan Vinh bridge, additional bridge units will be built on the left side of the route to ensure the scale of 6 lanes.

In addition, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are also invested in accordance with current standards, technical regulations and regulations.

With the above plan, the total investment for the Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway expansion project is nearly 1,900 billion VND from the central budget.
