Tanh Linh: Promoting agricultural advantages in building new rural areas

Along with the general development of the province, Tanh Linh district is one of the leading localities in the new rural construction movement. In recent times, the movement has continued to have a strong and widespread influence throughout the district, especially with the consensus and response of rural people. In particular, Bac Ruong - one of the 8 communes recently recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the advanced new rural standards is a remarkable example in organizing production and developing the rural economy.

In fact, the construction of new rural areas has made an important contribution to changing the face of rural areas, and the economic and social infrastructure system has been increasingly improved. In Tanh Linh, according to the assessment of the district People's Committee, promoting local advantages, agricultural production has grown steadily in recent years, forming many specialized agricultural areas, gradually meeting market demands. In particular, linkages along the value chain are increasingly developing, cooperatives are increasingly promoting the role of linking farmers with enterprises. On the other hand, many OCOP products are increasingly developing, contributing to creating jobs and increasing people's income. People's living standards have improved, the face of the countryside has changed positively, and people's support is increasingly widespread.

One of the typical examples is Bac Ruong, an advanced new rural commune that was recently recognized by the Provincial People's Committee in March 2025 and has been promoting its agricultural advantages. Among the completed criteria, it is worth mentioning that the implementation of criterion No. 13 (organization of production and development of rural economy ) has achieved outstanding results. Bac Ruong commune has a rice area of ​​nearly 1,500 hectares, with an annual output of about 25,000 tons. This is the main product of the locality, people work, produce and earn their main income from rice products. It can be mentioned that the VietGAP standard rice production model of Bac Ruong 1 Agricultural Service Cooperative and Bac Ruong Agricultural Service Cooperative is an effective rural economic model. The model is produced in an organic direction, the products are certified to ensure food safety, processed, packaged and sold on e-commerce platforms and websites, creating clean products to serve consumers. The products have created added value for the model's products, created jobs, and increased income for cooperative members.

In particular, Bac Ruong Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative was established at the end of 2020, with 7 members. The main business line is crop service activities. By March 2024, the cooperative added 26 new members, bringing the total number of members of the cooperative to 33, with a charter capital of 1 billion VND. Since its establishment, this cooperative has been operating continuously. In addition to producing new rice varieties, the cooperative also produces meat rice, products with quality that meet VietGAP standards and supply them to the market. At the same time, it supplies part of the demand for rice seeds for people in and outside the locality to reproduce. Currently, members of the cooperative continue to expand the production of intensive rice cultivation models according to the improved SRI method certified by VietGAP, with a commercial production area of ​​30 hectares. At the same time, regularly sign contracts to supply materials and consume products with Dai Nong Mechanization Company Limited, O MON Agricultural Technology Transfer Company Limited, with about 280 tons/year.

Rural economic development

Particularly, Bac Ruong 1 Agricultural Service Cooperative has a production land fund of 68.3 hectares, with an annual output of about 1,300 tons/year. Currently, the Cooperative is applying organic rice production techniques, products have clear packaging and labels, and an electronic traceability system is established to ensure the requirements for storage and retrieval of information at each stage from production to storage, processing and trade. Notably, in 2024, Bac Ruong commune was granted a growing area code for rice by the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (now the Department of Cultivation and Livestock) for Mr. Cap Kim Thanh's household, with an area of ​​3.9 hectares. In addition, currently in Bac Ruong commune, there are 3 products recognized as 3-star OCOP products including Dong Dan turmeric, Dong Dan tapioca starch and Bac Ruong ST25 clean rice.

According to the assessment of the People's Committee of Tanh Linh district, in general, the agricultural production process has been maintained, recording growth results. However, one of the current difficulties that the locality is facing is that the forms of organization and linkage of production, consumption of agricultural products, and agricultural products with strengths of the district are not really stable. Especially, there is still a lack of linkage models according to value chains, mechanization, and application of high technology. Besides, most of the communes in the district striving to reach the finish line at this stage are disadvantaged communes, with unfavorable natural conditions, making it difficult to attract investment in production development, leading to low per capita income and living standards of the people, and difficulty in mobilizing socialized resources...

Continuing the successes in the journey of building new rural areas and efforts to overcome difficulties, the People's Committee of Tanh Linh district said that in 2025, the locality will continue to implement the National Target Program on building new rural areas in conjunction with effectively restructuring the agricultural sector, developing the rural economy, effectively, sustainably, and building advanced new rural areas. The aim is to improve the material and spiritual life of rural people, build synchronous and gradually modern rural socio-economic infrastructure. In particular, the district strives to achieve 228 criteria, an average of 19 criteria and 100% of communes in the district meeting the standards of new rural communes. At the same time, increase the income of rural people (in 2025, the average income per capita in rural areas will reach over 53 million VND/person/year for new rural communes and over 64 million VND for advanced communes). Along with that, the locality continues to implement plans to restructure the agricultural sector to improve productivity, quality and value of key local agricultural products, on the basis of applying smart technology and mechanization in production.
