Strengthening management, operation and price stabilization during the 2024 Lunar New Year

Yesterday, January 16, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 380 requesting heads of departments, branches, and chairmen of district-level People's Committees to monitor supply and demand developments, grasp the situation of goods under their management to promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to take appropriate price management measures during the 2024 Lunar New Year.

The Provincial People's Committee requests localities and units to proactively monitor closely the developments in supply and demand, market prices in the area before, during and after Tet, especially for essential goods and services that directly serve the needs of local people such as food groups, fresh food, tourism services , sightseeing, passenger transport services... and other essential goods related to production. Thereby, promptly report and propose the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee on price stabilization measures in accordance with the law when the price level fluctuates abnormally.

The authorities shall strengthen the inspection and supervision of the implementation of price declaration and price posting measures; publicize price information; inspect compliance with price laws; strictly handle cases of speculation, hoarding and unreasonable price increases; proactively inspect price formation factors according to the provisions of the Law on Prices when goods have unusual fluctuations.

Sectors and localities should strengthen propaganda and mobilize small businesses to list prices and sell at the correct listed prices; sell goods that ensure quality, food hygiene and safety, and not buy and sell poor quality or fake goods that affect consumers' health.

For some specific tasks, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Market Management Department - Standing Agency of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 to preside over and coordinate with specialized agencies to strengthen the inspection and supervision of petroleum business activities in the area to ensure supply.

The unit advises the Provincial People's Committee to establish an interdisciplinary inspection team (when necessary) to organize inspections of compliance with legal regulations on price registration, price declaration, selling at the correct listed price, selling goods that ensure quality, food hygiene and safety in key areas, areas and items that need to be focused on inspection and must have the participation of many sectors to avoid overlap in inspection activities and ensure consistency in advising on handling administrative violations.

The market management force of the whole province strictly handles violations, taking advantage of holidays, Tet, and peak periods to unreasonably increase transportation fares, food, parking fees, etc.; cases of spreading false information causing market instability, damaging consumer interests.

The Department of Industry and Trade proactively advises the Provincial People's Committee on plans to prepare supplies and reserve essential goods for the 2024 Lunar New Year; implement market stabilization measures in accordance with the law. The industry continues to promote the implementation of activities to implement the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" to support production for craft villages and businesses locally and domestically, contributing to promoting the circulation of goods combined with the supply of goods locally to stabilize the market before, during and after Tet.

The Department of Transport directs the Traffic Inspectorate and units in the transport sector to coordinate with relevant agencies and functional forces to strengthen inspection and strictly control the transport of goods and passengers carrying goods on roads, railways, inland waterways, and sea routes...

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to direct its affiliated units to preside over and coordinate with agencies, units and localities to strengthen inspection and handling of violations of food safety for agricultural products; coordinate inspection of goods and products served before, during and after Tet to promptly detect and handle cases that do not ensure quality, food safety and hygiene, affecting the health of consumers.
