On the morning of May 15, Mr. Tran Anh Nam, Director of Nong Cong District Medical Center, said that regarding the injection of expired vaccines for 4 children, the center has temporarily suspended 2 commune health officials involved in the vaccination work at Thang Binh Commune Health Station to review and clarify responsibilities in the incident of injecting expired vaccines for children at Thang Binh Commune Health Station on May 9.
Authorities determined that vaccination staff at Thang Binh Commune Health Station did not comply with the principle of "3 checks, 5 comparisons" during the vaccination process.
The two commune health officials who were suspended from work are Ms. Le Thi Bich, obstetrician and pediatrician - the officer in charge of vaccinations, and Mr. Nguyen Van Son, college nurse - the person who directly injected the children. The suspension period is 15 days, starting from May 13.
These two officers are directly involved in drug storage and vaccination.
Authorities determined that the reception and storage of vaccines at Thang Binh Commune Health Station did not follow proper procedures, in which expired vaccines were mixed with valid vaccines; vaccination staff did not comply with the principle of "3 checks, 5 comparisons" during the vaccination process, leading to confusion.
Also on the morning of May 15, information from Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital said that after examination, the health of the 5 children is currently normal.
