Releasing the golden mountain tortoise back into the wild.
The Golden Mountain Turtle was received by the Thanh Ba District Forest Protection Department from Mr. Nguyen Hong Luc's family in Zone 7, Dong Linh Commune, Thanh Ba District, who voluntarily surrendered it. The individual weighed about 1.7 kg, with the scientific name Indotestudo elongata, a rare, precious, and endangered species of wild animal. After completing the necessary procedures, the individual was released in Zone 8, Sub-zone 278, Xuan Son National Park. At the time of release, the Golden Mountain Turtle was quarantined by veterinary experts, in good health, and had quickly integrated and adapted to the natural environment, suitable for the species' habitat.
The golden mountain tortoise is listed in the Vietnam Red Book as an endangered, precious, and rare forest animal species in Group IIB of Decree 06/2019/ND-CP, dated January 22, 2019 of the Government on the management of endangered, precious, and rare forest plants and animals and the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
The release of endangered, precious and rare wild animals into the wild has made an important contribution to the biodiversity conservation efforts of Phu Tho province in particular, as well as the whole country in general.
