This is a heartfelt book written by author Vien Chi after his retirement, completed in 1996.

Recently, his son - Colonel Tran Nguyen Minh - found the manuscript and related documents to organize the book.

According to Major General Nguyen Binh Ban - former director of the People's Public Security History Institute, this is probably the first time the police force has a book written about Vietnam's international obligation to help Cambodia.

The book recounts stories about the war in the security field in Cambodia, specifically the contributions and sacrifices of the Vietnamese Ministry of Interior's security expert team (expert team K79) sent to help the Cambodian Ministry of Interior from 1979 to 1988.

The book consists of 27 chapters. In addition to the first chapter "Departure" and the last chapter "Return", the remaining chapters briefly recount the cases that he directly directed.

According to Colonel Tran Nguyen Minh, the book shows that Vien Chi, in his role as head of the security expert team, was very dedicated to his work.

He has guided the professional work of the host country through cases with dedication, detail, and responsibility, as assigned by the Party, State, and Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam before he went to Cambodia to carry out his duties.

In the introduction to the book when he was still the Minister of Public Security , General To Lam wrote that the book was not only a memoir of the author and his colleagues' 10 years as head of the security expert delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Interior from 1979 to 1988, but also showed the history of Cambodia in its revival and the contributions of the officers and soldiers of the Vietnamese People's Public Security to helping the friendly country in a spirit of impartiality and purity, contributing to ensuring security and order, consolidating and maintaining the government of the friendly country in the early days of escaping the Pol Pot - Iengxari genocidal regime.

Former Deputy Minister of Public Security - Hero of the People's Armed Forces Vien Chi (1919 - 1999) was born into a poor patriotic Confucian family in Tan Thinh commune, Nam Truc district, Nam Dinh province.

He has been with the police for more than 40 years, holding many important positions in the police force, leaving a deep impression as a senior officer with a lot of experience and expertise, especially when he was assigned to lead the delegation of security experts from the Ministry of the Interior of Vietnam to help Cambodia in the period 1979 - 1988.
