On May 27, Nicotex Thai Binh Joint Stock Company coordinated with the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa commune (Yen Khanh district) to organize a conference to evaluate the model of spraying pesticides using drones on the commune's winter-spring rice crop.
Attending the event were representatives of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center; the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Management Board of Agricultural Service Cooperatives and many farmers in the area.
Within the framework of the conference, delegates directly visited and compared rice fields that were organized to control pests by drones using pesticides from Nicotex Thai Binh Joint Stock Company and rice fields where farmers bought pesticides from the market and sprayed them themselves with hand sprayers.
In general, this year's winter-spring rice crop has a high density of pests and diseases compared to previous years, especially pests such as planthoppers and leaf rollers, but the fields sprayed by drones are all free of pests and diseases, the flag leaves are well protected, the rice panicles are even and firm, and the yield is guaranteed. On the contrary, for the fields sprayed by hand, the control efficiency is not high, pests and diseases are many, the flag leaves are affected, and the yield is low, the cause may be due to asynchronous spraying, not at the right time...
Also at the conference, delegates and members were given an overview of unmanned aerial vehicles and plant protection drugs specifically used for unmanned aerial vehicles by technical staff of Nicotex Thai Binh Joint Stock Company.
Through field visits and listening to presentations at the conference, delegates all agreed that the application of drones in spraying pesticides is very effective, helping farmers to free up labor, limit exposure to toxic chemicals of plant protection, maximize the effectiveness of pest control, protect the environment, reduce costs, and increase economic efficiency in farming. However, there are still some difficulties in expanding due to the high initial cost of purchasing drones, limited mastery of technology by farmers, fragmented fields, and some farmers still do not fully understand and trust the effectiveness of the equipment...
The use of drones is a growing trend in supporting farming, especially in the context of an increasing shortage of agricultural labor. Seminars combined with demonstrations and field trips will provide practical, timely and complete information for farmers to access new and more effective technology, bringing agriculture to develop in a modern and sustainable direction.
