" After last night's incident, many social media users will be startled and wonder if they are victims of a cyber attack or a victim of a hacker?

In just one night, tens of millions of Internet users in Vietnam felt like their accounts had been hacked and were more conscious the next day to change their passwords and use 2-step authentication. The incident was like a good propaganda measure," Mr. Hung explained.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Information Security said that about 60 - 70% of users changed their Facebook account passwords and set up 2-step security after the incident on the evening of March 5.

" Last night, I also received questions from many acquaintances asking whether their Facebook was hacked or not. Most of these people had not previously taken steps to secure their accounts or use 2-step authentication, and they would certainly be the ones who easily fall into online scams when their accounts were hacked ," said Mr. Hung.

The head of the Information Security Department said that if all Internet users have the skills to apply security measures when using any social networking platform, the risk of being scammed online will be minimized.

According to Mr. Tran Quang Hung, when Facebook has problems, a large number of users flock to well-functioning platforms like Zalo to find answers.

" After Facebook's incident, users are reminded that a Vietnamese platform can still maintain service and be used well, " added a representative of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

At around 10pm on March 5, Facebook and many other Meta social networking platforms suddenly experienced problems globally, leaving millions of users unable to log into the application.

According to India TV, not only Facebook, other social networks of Meta Group such as Instagram and WhatsApp also encountered similar situations at the same time.

According to many Facebook users in Vietnam, the logging out of this social network appeared on all mobile devices and computers on the evening of March 5.

Many users have tried to log back into their Facebook accounts but failed even though they entered the correct password. Changing the password also does not help users log back into Facebook.

Logging into Facebook through different devices also failed, whether using a mobile phone or a computer. It took nearly 2 hours for users to be able to log in again.
