On the evening of May 31, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2025 officially opened with the competition night between the host team Da Nang and the defending champion Finland.
With the theme "Da Nang - a new era", this year's fireworks festival is the longest and largest in the 15-year history of DIFF with the participation of 10 competing teams from May 21 to July 12.
Although it rained and thunderstormed in Da Nang that afternoon, more than 10,000 spectators filled the stands very early.
Tens of thousands of spectators also filled both banks of the Han River waiting for the light festival.

The organizers said this is the first time at a fireworks festival that large-scale outdoor AR technology has been used. The outdoor virtual reality system of DIFF 2025 has a "huge" scale with a coverage of up to 600,000m² and nearly 10 million pixels.
Deserving to be the opening team for the biggest DIFF season in history, the host team Da Nang surprised thousands of spectators and made them burst with pride with a completely new, explosive comeback and skillful fireworks techniques.
More than 5,000 fireworks intertwine with music to create a magnificent symphony of light with 4 fireworks chapters: Harmony - Honor - Integration - Pioneer & Glory, recounting the journey of Vietnamese culture reaching the world.
From the sparkling rain effects, soft color-changing fireworks to the waterfall fireworks, simultaneous explosions like waves sweeping across the space, the audience was caught up in a flow of emotions from deep to explosive. Unfortunately, some of the smoke significantly affected this team's performance.

Meanwhile, defending champion Finland brought a completely different atmosphere with water cannons, the "trick" that made Finland win at DIFF last year.
For nearly 20 minutes, the Finnish team suddenly increased the drama several times by switching to a series of high-altitude artillery fire.
Not only pleasing to the eye, the Finnish team also took the time to "listen" to the Vietnamese audience when many people enjoyed the songs "Bong phu hoa" and "Vu tru co bay" that rang out during the performance.

Affirming the position of "Asia's leading event and festival city"
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that with the theme "Da Nang - a new era", this year's festival is not only a space for experiencing the pinnacle, full of emotions of light technology, art, music... but also a harmony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
"This is an opportunity for us to affirm our aspirations and determination to rise up, an opportunity for Da Nang to affirm its position as "Asia's leading event and festival city" and continue to attract international friends to a dynamic, creative and friendly Da Nang" - Mr. Chinh said.
