Cao Bang Department of Health attends the 2025 Annual Medical Exchange Conference between Vietnam's border provinces and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China

On August 28, 2025, in Bai Chay ward, Quang Ninh province, the 2025 Annual Medical Exchange Conference between the Departments of Health of Quang Ninh - Lang Son - Cao Bang - Tuyen Quang provinces (Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and the Health Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (People's Republic of China) was solemnly held.

Representatives of leaders of the provinces: Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang , Tuyen Quang (Vietnam) and leaders of Guangxi (China) signed important cooperation agreements in the period 2025 - 2026.

The conference took place in the context of Vietnam and China celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025, demonstrating comprehensive and substantive development in bilateral cooperation, hosted by the Department of Health of Quang Ninh province in Bai Chay ward, Quang Ninh province.

The delegation of Cao Bang Provincial Department of Health was led by Mr. Nong Van Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department. Attending the conference were Mr. Do Chan Tong - Party Secretary, Chairman, Head of the Delegation of the Guangxi Health and Medical Committee (China); Mr. Nguyen Trong Dien - Party Secretary, Director of Quang Ninh Department of Health; Mr. Nguyen The Toan - Director of Lang Son Department of Health; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung - Director of Tuyen Quang Department of Health; leaders of central and local health agencies of 4 provinces and medical experts from the two countries.

In the period of 2024 - 2025, medical cooperation activities between the border provinces of Vietnam and Guangxi have developed better and better, focusing on serving the practical needs of people in border areas, contributing to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China in politics, diplomacy and humanity.

For Cao Bang province, in 2025, it coordinated to organize professional exchange activities, training, and participated in joint epidemic prevention exercises in Pingxiang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, to help improve cross-border epidemic response capacity. Cooperated to implement the Thalassemia Medical Treatment Relief Project; Cataract Medical Treatment Relief Project Vietnam - China

Comrade Nong Van Thanh - Deputy Director of Cao Bang Provincial Department of Health reported on the situation of medical cooperation activities of Cao Bang province within the framework between the border provinces of Vietnam and Guangxi (China).

The conference heard speeches from the Heads of the Delegations of the Departments of Health of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, and Tuyen Quang, focusing on assessing achievements and future cooperation orientations. Comrade Do Chan Tong - Head of the Delegation of the Guangxi Health and Medical Commission delivered a speech, emphasizing the readiness to accompany the border provinces of Vietnam in expanding the scope of cooperation, promoting professional exchanges, and improving the capacity of the two sides' health systems.

At the discussion session, the parties agreed to focus on a number of important cooperation orientations in the 2025 - 2026 period, including:

1. Maintain the mechanism of annual medical exchange conferences regularly, organized in rotation to improve the effectiveness of continuous cooperation.

2. Develop a cross-border medical examination and treatment model, expand the emergency mechanism at landmark 1369; ensure people have quick and safe access to medical services.

3. Strengthen training of medical personnel, send staff to study in Guangxi and welcome Chinese experts to exchange expertise.

4. Organize joint drills to respond to infectious diseases and medical emergencies; develop a mechanism for sharing medical information across borders.

5. Cooperate in traditional medicine and medicinal herbs development, organize conferences and fairs to introduce products and technology.

6. Applying technology and digital transformation in healthcare, focusing on electronic medical records, interconnected health records and disease warning systems.

With high consensus among the delegations, the Conference conducted the Signing Ceremony of the Minutes of the 2025 Medical Exchange Conference, officially recording important cooperation contents in the coming period.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Nguyen Trong Dien - Director of Quang Ninh Department of Health affirmed: The recent cooperation results are a solid foundation for further expanding the depth of cooperation. With the spirit of friendship, solidarity and responsibility, he believes that the medical cooperation between the four border provinces of Vietnam and Guangxi will continue to develop strongly and sustainably, for the health of the people of the two countries and for a peaceful, stable and developing border.

The conference ended in an atmosphere of excitement and solidarity, marking a new step of development in Vietnam-China medical cooperation in the border area, aiming at the goal of building a common health community, contributing to realizing the vision of comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two Parties and two States.
