Skoda Vietnam joins the campaign against plastic pollution

The Meeting event in response to World Environment Day and Environmental Action Month 2025 with the support of Sponsor Skoda Vietnam was successfully organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province.

With the theme "Fighting plastic pollution", the program is a strong call for the community to join hands to reduce plastic waste, protect the living environment and develop sustainably.
In recent times, a series of policies on environmental protection have been issued and implemented. These include: the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, the National Action Plan on Ocean Plastic Waste with the goal of reducing 75% of marine plastic waste by 2030...

Localities also have initiatives being applied, businesses are also actively switching to bio-materials, recycled packaging, and applying circular economic models in production.

However, these actions have only been partially effective. At the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Cong Thanh assessed: “The effort to reduce plastic waste still faces many challenges. Although the legal framework has been established, implementation is still limited.

Waste classification at source is not uniform, many businesses are not ready to invest in technology due to high costs, while the habit of using disposable plastic is still common in the community.

“We call on all levels of government, the business community, and every citizen to take action. Do not be indifferent to plastic pollution. Be proactive in creating a green lifestyle for the environment today and for a sustainable future.”

In recent years, following the direction of the Party and State regarding proactive response to climate change, strengthening resource management and environmental protection, Quang Ninh province has issued many documents and implemented many creative and effective activities.

According to Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee: "This year's World Environment Day has the theme "Fighting plastic pollution", which has special and urgent significance, reflecting the deep concern of the international community and Vietnam for the environmental crisis caused by plastic waste".

In order to promote the extensive participation of all social classes, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has officially launched the Campaign "Join hands to reduce plastic waste - Spread green lifestyle", with 6 key contents:
– Organize “No Single-Use Plastic Day” at offices, schools, supermarkets, markets, etc.
– Launch a movement to classify waste at source, collect and recycle plastic waste in households, agencies and businesses.
– Replicating ecological agriculture and circular agriculture models, limiting the use of plastic in production.
– Promote communication, especially digital communication, to raise public awareness and encourage practical action.
– Support research and application of plastic waste recycling technology and production of environmentally friendly alternative materials.
– Timely reward individuals, organizations and businesses that are outstanding in the work of preventing plastic pollution.

Skoda Global also has the Next Level 2030 strategy, which represents a long-term vision in promoting sustainable development in the automotive industry.

The successful group was established in 1999, operating in many industries, of which the automotive industry is the main business sector, with a leading position in the Vietnamese automobile market. In 2022, TC Motor - a member of TC Group officially signed a cooperation agreement with Skoda Auto (an automobile brand from the Czech Republic, over 130 years old and a member of Volkswagen Group) to develop the brand, transfer production and business technology, and distribute Skoda cars in Vietnam.

In 2023, the first Skoda models were launched in the domestic market and by March 2025, the Thanh Cong Viet Hung factory was inaugurated. This is where some Skoda models are assembled with a capacity of 120,000 vehicles/year.
