On November 25, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien - Hue province said that heavy rain caused a landslide in the mountainous district of A Luoi, injuring two people.

Accordingly, at 7:45 p.m. on November 24, due to heavy rain, the hill behind the house of Mr. Tran Van Khua (born in 1973, residing in Lien Hiep village, Lam Dot commune, A Luoi district) collapsed, burying part of the house.

At the time of the landslide, there were 8 people (family members) in Mr. Khua's house. Mr. Khua and his wife, Ms. A Ho, were injured and were taken to the 92nd National Defense Economic Group Medical Station for first aid by the unit and authorities. The remaining six family members were safe and were taken to the homes of relatives nearby.

Also related to landslides caused by floods, on the morning of November 25, the People's Committee of Phu Loc district (Thua Thien - Hue) directed the evacuation of 43 households in areas at risk of landslides, including 14 households in Phu Gia area (Loc Tien commune); 07 households in Trung Phuoc Tuong and Trung An villages (Loc Tri commune); 10 households along National Highway 49B (Loc Binh commune); 12 households in Bach Thach village (Loc Dien commune).

According to a quick report from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Thua Thien - Hue province, the flood situation in the locality is still unpredictable. From November 18 to the early morning of November 25, this locality has had heavy rain, very heavy rain.

Total rainfall for the entire period is generally 100-400mm, especially in mountainous areas of A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phong Dien districts and Huong Tra town (Thua Thien - Hue) 400-850mm, some places are higher such as Huong Phu (Nam Dong district) 1,099mm, Bach Ma 2,577mm, Bach Ma peak (Phu Loc district) over 2,997mm.

Heavy rains caused the water level of major rivers in Thua Thien - Hue to rise. At 7:00 a.m. on November 25, the water level of the Huong River at Kim Long station was at 2.99m, 0.51m below alert level 3; the Bo River at Phu Oc was at 3.64m, 0.64m above alert level 2.

It is forecasted that today (November 25) the water level on rivers in Thua Thien - Hue will continue to rise, the flood peak on Huong River and Bo River may reach and exceed Alert Level 3, beware of widespread flooding in downstream areas. To ensure safety during floods, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province also announced that students in the whole province will be off school on November 25.
