At 2:00 p.m. on September 26, 2024, at its Hanoi headquarters, Cong Thuong Newspaper will organize a seminar "Building an ecosystem for the cinnamon industry - Issues to note".

Currently, Vietnam has participated in and is negotiating 19 free trade agreements and is the only country to sign free trade agreements with all major economic partners around the world such as: the United States, Japan, China, EU, UK, Russia...

These FTAs provide Vietnamese enterprises with many advantages to promote trade activities, connect businesses, and bring Vietnamese products and goods to end consumers in many major markets around the world .

One of the products that is benefiting the most from FTAs is agricultural products, including cinnamon. FTAs have helped Vietnamese cinnamon gain an advantage over some other countries in terms of tax. This is a very favorable condition and opportunity for Vietnamese cinnamon products to increasingly advance further in the international market.

However, according to experts and analysts, the export value of cinnamon is still very low compared to its potential and strengths. Cinnamon products are mainly exported through intermediaries, so the price and market are unstable and the value is not high. On the other hand, our country does not have a strategic orientation for sustainable development at the national level for the cinnamon industry; the situation of pesticide residues in cinnamon bark still occurs...

Based on the above reality, Cong Thuong Newspaper organized a live and online discussion "Building an ecosystem for the cinnamon industry - issues to note" to find the best solution to help the Vietnamese countryside industry better utilize incentives from FTAs as well as realize solutions for the cinnamon industry to build a better ecosystem and boost exports.

The seminar also aims to build a forum for state management agencies, businesses, experts, and managers to exchange, discuss, evaluate, and propose practical content to contribute to the process of promoting the strong development of the Vietnamese cinnamon industry.

Guests participating in the program include:

- Mr. Ngo Chung Khanh - Deputy Director of Multilateral Trade Policy Department , Ministry of Industry and Trade

- Ms. Hoang Thi Lien - President of Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association

- Agricultural expert Hoang Trong Thuy

- And Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chien - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Yen Bai province participated in the online seminar program.
