E-commerce platforms pay taxes on behalf of sellers from July 1

Up to this point, households, individuals doing business online and platforms have completed preparations and are ready to implement this regulation from July 1.

E-commerce platforms and digital platforms will deduct and pay value-added tax and personal income tax on behalf of sellers on the platform, including domestic and foreign sellers... according to Decree 117 of the Government . Up to this point, households and individuals doing business online and platforms have completed preparations and are ready to implement this regulation from July 1.

The sedge mat stall of the OCOP craft village in Thai Binh used to pay taxes by self-declaration, but now the e-commerce platform can pay taxes on his behalf. Mr. Tuan is very assured, not only does he not have to worry about missing declarations, but it also ensures fairer competition among sellers.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Owner of Than Vui Sedge Mat stall said: "In the past, I was very worried about whether the other house paid taxes or not. Now everyone pays taxes, so I don't have to worry anymore."

Ms. Phung Thi Xuan - Owner of Khanh Lam Agricultural Cooperative stall shared: "It's easy for us, we don't have to worry about monthly declarations and being fined for being late."

Not only sending notification letters and instructions to over 4 million individual sellers, the platform also coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize direct training so that small traders, content creators and young workers can master the legal aspects of e-commerce and comply with new tax regulations.

Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - Representative of Tiktok Vietnam commented: "On the basis of changing the software as well as changing the terms between the parties involved in Tiktok shop. Tiktok can fully commit to tax compliance".

E-commerce platforms and digital platforms will deduct and pay value added tax and personal income tax on behalf of sellers on the platforms.

Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has cross-checked with tax authorities the operations of over 40,000 e-commerce websites, checking the tax code operations, to prepare for the floor to pay taxes on behalf of sellers.

Ms. Le Thi Ha - Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade commented: "In the coming period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will carry out the task of decentralization and delegation of power to localities and we will continue to share common databases on e-commerce with local tax authorities for better management and review".

Also according to Decree 117, domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms are subject to deduction and tax payment on behalf of domestic and foreign sellers for each transaction of providing goods and services... This new regulation creates fairness in the context of cross-border e-commerce, so that sellers can do business with peace of mind.
