After many consecutive sessions of increase to reach a historical peak, the stock market turned sharply down on the morning of August 22. The group of banking pillars - the main driving force in the recent increase - simultaneously plummeted, causing the VN-Index to fall deeply.

At the end of the morning session, VN-Index decreased by 41.94 points to 1,646.06 points. Liquidity reached more than 1.16 billion shares, equivalent to a trading value of more than VND 31,692 billion. The entire floor had 50 stocks increasing in price, 291 stocks decreasing in price and 28 stocks remaining unchanged.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 11.19 points to 273.2 points, with a trading volume of more than 106.3 million shares, equivalent to nearly VND2,257 billion. The entire floor recorded 23 stocks increasing, 143 stocks decreasing and 37 stocks remaining unchanged.

The UPCOM floor was also in red when the UPCOM-Index decreased by 1.11 points to 109.47 points. Trading volume reached more than 65.3 million shares, equivalent to nearly 771 billion VND. The entire floor had 81 stocks increasing, 202 stocks decreasing and 93 stocks remaining unchanged.

Widespread selling pressure left the market without support. The banking group had only 6 stocks increasing in price, while 21 stocks decreased. Real estate was under great pressure, a series of large-cap stocks plummeted: VRE decreased by 4.93%, VHM decreased by 3.01%, VIC decreased by 1.52%, BCM decreased by 3.29%, NVL decreased by 5.64%, KDH decreased by 2.92%.

Other leading stocks such as HPG,FPT , GAS, MSN, MWG also fell sharply, along with red covering the securities, insurance, oil and gas groups... Overall, this morning's market no longer had any bright spots.

High liquidity shows that cash flow has not left the market, but selling pressure in large-cap stocks is still overwhelming, causing the VN-Index to fall sharply and is likely to continue to face challenges in the afternoon session./.
