Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam inspected the damage after storm No. 1

Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam and leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches have just inspected the flooding situation of the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop and damage recovery work in localities after the impact of storm No. 1 and heavy rain in the province.

In Hai Lang district, more than 6,800 hectares of rice and 1,700 hectares of vegetables were flooded. In Trieu Phong district, nearly 5,500 hectares of rice and more than 1,000 hectares of vegetables were affected. Inspecting the actual situation in the two localities, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested the People's Committees of the districts to urgently mobilize forces, means, materials and equipment to implement drainage of flooded production areas and plans to maximally protect unflooded cultivated areas; temporarily repair damaged intra-field canals and dykes to restore summer-autumn crop production.

Proactively use local reserve budget to organize flood and storm recovery in accordance with regulations. In case of exceeding the balance capacity, propose the Provincial People's Committee to consider and support people in areas with heavy damage to agricultural production.

Focus on directing and supporting people in flood-affected areas to overcome consequences, restore production, stabilize life immediately after the flood recedes, focusing on environmental sanitation. Organize assessment, inventory and synthesize reports on damage, propose solutions to quickly stabilize life, ensure livelihoods for people affected by damage.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment shall preside over and coordinate with relevant localities and units to develop plans and propose technical solutions to urgently overcome flooded agricultural production areas; advise and direct the implementation of large-scale production restoration work; guide localities to organize the 2025 summer-autumn crop production in a timely and effective manner, ensuring a stable source of income for people. Direct and guide the implementation of timely flood control solutions, operate irrigation works and dykes to ensure protection and support for production restoration immediately after the water recedes.

Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam also requested that specialized sectors need to have long-term solutions to respond to climate change causing extreme and unusual weather phenomena, affecting agricultural production in the area.

Including calculations on internal traffic infrastructure, drainage canal system, and consideration of converting crops to adapt to climate change.
