According to the plan, in the period of 2021 - 2030, the airport will reach level 4C according to ICAO standards, with a capacity of 3 million passengers/year, and be able to operate aircraft types A320, A321, B737 and equivalent.

The apron is expanded to the North and South, accommodating a minimum of 14 parking positions (11 Code C, 3 Code B). The air traffic control tower remains at its existing location on an area of over 1.5 hectares.

By 2050, Tuy Hoa Airport is planned to have a capacity of 5 million passengers/year.

Passenger terminal T2 is built on an area of about 20,000 m², with a capacity of 3 million passengers/year, located southwest of terminal T1. Part of terminal T1 will be temporarily used as a cargo terminal when needed.

With a vision to 2050, Tuy Hoa Airport is planned to have a capacity of 5 million passengers/year. The parking lot will be expanded to the Northwest, ensuring a minimum of 26 parking positions (18 Code C, 8 Code B). The passenger terminal will be expanded to the Northeast of T2 (on the T1 terminal area) with an additional area of 12,000 m², increasing the capacity to 5 million passengers/year.

The cargo terminal covers an area of over 26,000 m², including a station area adjacent to the aircraft parking lot, a warehouse yard behind and directly connected to the traffic route for convenient delivery and receipt, meeting a minimum of 3,500 tons/year. The total land use demand of the port is about 691 hectares.

Previously, the planning until 2015, orientation to 2025 of Tuy Hoa Airport approved by the Ministry of Transport only set the target of 300,000 passengers/year, 2,000 tons of cargo/year. However, by 2024, the exploitation output has exceeded 432,000 passengers, much higher than the design capacity. This makes the old planning no longer suitable.

The establishment of a new plan is considered necessary and urgent to ensure consistency with the Master Plan for the development of the airport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050; while meeting the needs of socio -economic development, national security and defense, and growth of the aviation industry.
