Attention to biodiversity conservation

DNO - On June 14, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang City, the Center for Biodiversity Conservation of Green Viet (Green Viet) in collaboration with the Faculty of Biology, Agriculture and Environment (Da Nang University of Education) organized a forum on biodiversity conservation.

Nguyen Dinh Phuc, Permanent Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang City, informed that biodiversity conservation in the process of socio -economic development of Da Nang City in particular and Vietnam in general is posing issues that require attention, cooperation and exchange among relevant parties.

In that context, propaganda andeducation on biodiversity conservation play an important role so that all classes of people and tourists have awareness and take the right actions in daily life activities, ecotourism...

After merging with Quang Nam province, Da Nang city will have a very diverse forest and marine ecosystem, including special-use forests of Son Tra, Ba Na - Nui Chua, Nam Hai Van, Song Thanh National Park, elephant conservation area and the upstream forests of Tay Giang, Dong Giang, Nam Giang, and Cu Lao Cham biosphere reserve. The city also has many endemic and rare species such as saola, gray-shanked douc langur, tiger, yellow-cheeked gibbon, elephant, brown-shanked douc langur...

To effectively carry out biodiversity conservation work, it is necessary to increase the application of science and technology; promote propaganda and education activities, and raise awareness of all classes of people and tourists about nature conservation and biodiversity.

Director of Huong Sang Environment and Biological Resources Company Limited Pham Tai Minh said that in the biodiversity conservation planning of Da Nang city, the city planned Ba Na - Nui Chua Nature Reserve to meet all conditions to upgrade to a national park and many priority projects to aim to establish a World Biosphere Reserve in Da Nang; 2 wetland landscape protection areas in the area of Hoa Trung Lake and Dong Nghe Lake; 1 medicinal garden, 1 botanical garden, 1 animal rescue center...

In addition to planning and implementing priority projects for each phase according to the plan, the city needs to continue to have harmonious management mechanisms between socio-economic development and biodiversity conservation.
