Beef noodle shop in Thai Nguyen causes a 'fever' with witty slogan, claiming to be 'second best'

Social networks shared a sign in front of a pho restaurant with the content: " Thai Nguyen beef pho, first generation family recipe. Second best in Thai Nguyen, but where is the best?"

The sign was shared by many people and they did not forget to send compliments to the owner's idea. Many people thought that the owner was honest, humorous and would find the address to support if given the chance.

Minh Anh commented: "The sign is very nice, the owner must be a very funny person". Ngoc Nguyen wrote: "The first generation has become a family heirloom, please give me the address to try and see if it's the best in Thai Nguyen".

The sign was shared by many people because of the owner's wit.

Sharing with Thanh Nien , Mr. Hoang Chi Hieu (40 years old, in Thai Nguyen), the owner of the pho restaurant, said that he had the idea to print out and place the sign in front of the restaurant. He had just entered the pho business market not long ago, and was not well known, so he wanted to make the sign a little different.

"First, the sign must clearly show that the pho restaurant is in Thai Nguyen. Second, it must have a bit of humor to bring joy to diners," said Mr. Hieu.

Saying his pho restaurant is the second best in Thai Nguyen is a joke, whether it's good or not depends on the diners' opinion.

The sign is placed in front of the shop.

"When making the sign, I also pay attention not to violate community standards or customs, and this is not a shocking trick. I just think that if customers see a humorous sign, they will feel happier and more enthusiastic when eating," said the restaurant owner.

He opened the pho restaurant in October 2023, and the sign has been there since then. However, it has recently been widely shared on social media. He is also the first person in his family to cook pho for business.

Mr. Hieu opened the pho restaurant in October last year.

Previously, Mr. Hieu worked as a restaurant manager but always cherished the plan of opening his own restaurant. At the beginning of opening the restaurant, he also encountered many difficulties because he had to wake up early, learn, prepare spices, ingredients, and consult pho recipes.

"A younger brother who is a chef passed on the pho recipe to me. During the cooking process, I also adjusted it to suit the taste of the diners. I also have quite strict requirements for the suppliers of ingredients in the hope that the diners will be most satisfied," said Mr. Hieu.

According to the restaurant owner, customers often jokingly say, "I couldn't find the best restaurant, so I had to go to the second best one." He also admits that there are customers who are curious and come to try the food because of the sign. However, he will try to make customers come back because of the delicious taste of pho instead of the unique details on the sign.
