PTSC representative introduced positive developments in Vietnam, attracting attention and creating a premise for cooperation with partners in the UK.
From June 16-23, Vietnam Oil and Gas Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), a member of the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group (Petrovietnam), had a 5-day working program in London and the cities of Hull and Grimsby in the Humber region, to learn from experience, explore cooperation opportunities and connect with potential partners. This activity is part of the visit of the Vietnamese Energy Delegation to the UK organized by the British Embassy in Hanoi and the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to PTSC, the delegation also included delegates from the Electricity Authority - Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Vietnam Electricity (EVN). This is an important program in promoting bilateral cooperation between the UK and Vietnam in the energy sector. During the visit, Vietnamese delegates attended the Workshop “Sharing UK Experience in Offshore Wind Project Bidding and Licensing”, the Conference and Exhibition “Global Offshore Wind 2025” and the Discussion Session “Financial Solutions for Offshore Wind Projects in Vietnam”.
The delegation visited typical units in operation, maintenance and production.
The activities took place in London and brought together leading UK experts from both the private and public sectors, presenting and making recommendations to help Vietnam quickly complete the legal framework and develop the supply chain to attract foreign investment and implement projects, towards achieving the target of installing 17,000MW of offshore wind power by 2035. During the trip, PTSC visited Hull and Grimsby - two cities in the Humber region, where the Hornsea project cluster is developed. This is one of the typical examples of the offshore wind industry in the UK. Here, delegates visited typical units, including Xceco Operation and Maintenance Company, Siemens Gamesa Blade Factory, Grimbsy Training Center and the Port of Grimsby. The process of contacting and exchanging with the units aimed to provide delegates with a comprehensive and detailed perspective on the role of infrastructure development, private investment and long-term planning for a specific offshore wind industry. In addition, PTSC representatives also introduced positive developments in Vietnam, attracting attention and creating a premise for cooperation with partners in the UK.
The British Government has always affirmed that it is a reliable partner of Vietnam in the energy transition process.
British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Alexandra Smith said: “Clean energy is the future of not only Vietnam but the whole world. The UK highly appreciates Vietnam's target of installing 17GW of offshore wind power by 2035 as well as its commitment to completing the legal framework and developing the supply chain. Private investment will play a very important role in an industry that is capital- and technology-intensive. These commitments are sending a strong message and attracting many resources from around the world. The UK Government has always been a reliable partner of Vietnam in the energy transition process.” Specifically, the UK Government has always actively promoted cooperation initiatives such as the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and the Vietnam Offshore Wind Research Centre of Excellence, two initiatives that will soon bring practical results. Trade cooperation is also a top priority. British businesses play a vital role in providing technology and services to the industry. British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Alexandra Smith believes that partnerships, especially in the commercial sector, will help accelerate project development and ensure Vietnam’s ambitious goals are achieved.
