After more than 1 year of establishment, the model of the traditional Co Tu brocade weaving group has gradually become organized and disciplined, becoming a unique place for locals and tourists to visit.
Ms. Bhling Thi Xiec - Head of the weaving group said that after a period of operation, there are now 15 members participating in the traditional weaving group, most of whom are women in the village.
In addition to being open to tourists every week, the weaving space is a place to exchange and share experiences about weaving. Through this, it not only improves the skills of women but also contributes to creating unique products to sell on the market.
“All brocade weaving formulas go through a consultation process among members, aiming to create products with the most typical values of the Co Tu people.
This factor is put first, because through the unique handmade products of the weaving group, we wish to preserve the original cultural values of the Co Tu, avoiding innovation that deviates from tradition, especially the color scheme and beaded patterns on the Co Tu brocade fabric" - Ms. Xiec shared.
More than 2 months ago, at the 4th Co Tu Traditional Cultural Festival of Song Kon Commune, this Brocade Weaving Group space became a place to welcome locals and tourists.
With their skillful hands, Co Tu artisans demonstrate each stage of brocade weaving to the delight and surprise of visitors. This is truly an interesting experience for visitors when they set foot in the unique Co Tu cultural village in Dong Truong Son.
Ms. Dinh Thi Ngoi - Chairman of Song Kon Commune People's Committee said that the products of the Brocade Weaving Group have been and are continuing to be promoted and introduced to the community and domestic and international tourists.
The diversity and sophistication in the way brocade is weaved has created unique products, from coats, sa-lung skirts to scarves, loincloths..., helping to find a place in the mountainous brocade market.
“Last year, at the event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of Dong Giang district, for the first time, the products of the traditional Co Tu brocade weaving group of Song Kon commune were introduced, becoming meaningful gifts for delegates and distinguished guests.
To create momentum for the direction of restoring traditional craft villages, in the coming time, we will continue to develop the scale of operations of the weaving group; at the same time, expand the market, create more unique products to help increase income for weaving group members" - Ms. Ngoi said.
