Phu Yen sends thank you letter to Green Development Support Center

The Provincial People's Committee has just sent a letter of thanks to the Green Development Support Center (GreenHub) under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations for accompanying Phu Yen in environmental protection work.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee respectfully acknowledges and expresses its deep gratitude to GreenHub for its support and cooperation with the province in the past time in its efforts to achieve the goal of becoming a green - clean - beautiful, environmentally friendly destination. The Provincial People's Committee hopes to continue receiving the support of GreenHub so that the province can implement solutions for managing domestic solid waste, especially classifying domestic solid waste and minimizing plastic waste in the coming time.

Like many provinces and cities in the Central region, Phu Yen is often affected by climate change and extreme weather. Recognizing the negative impacts of climate change and the decline of natural resources, in the process of promoting economic development, Phu Yen has recently implemented many practical solutions, such as strengthening communication, raising public awareness of the effective use of natural resources and environmental protection; promoting investment in development, improving environmental protection infrastructure, planting trees, etc. The province's goal is to strive to build Phu Yen into a green - clean - beautiful, environmentally friendly destination.

In addition to efforts to promote internal resources, the province has focused on attracting external support resources, including GreenHub, which has accompanied Phu Yen since 2019. Through the results of the work packages and projects implemented by GreenHub, the environmental sanitation work of each individual and community has been significantly improved, many environmental protection models have been implemented and responded to by the community, contributing to promoting the improvement of the province's environmental quality and have been demonstrated through the improvement of the ranking position for the province's environmental protection assessment indicators such as: The set of environmental protection assessment indicators announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ), with an improvement in position of 28/63 provinces and cities in 2022 and 27/63 provinces and cities in 2023. The provincial green index, assessed by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), ranked 58/63 in 2022 and 29/63 in 2023.

According to GreenHub, from 2019-2025, GreenHub will work with Phu Yen to achieve the goal of Zero Waste, creating deep relationships with the community and local authorities, through 8 projects and work packages including: Work package to build a Zero Waste movement in Vietnam through coastal areas; Phu Yen work package to practice Zero Waste; Zero Waste School Program project in Phu Yen province; Minimizing plastic waste through Zero Waste practices; Women reduce plastic waste; Building capacity for women waste collectors in the plastic waste recycling chain; Building capacity and cooperation of non-public women waste collectors in Phu Yen; Promoting efforts to reduce ocean plastic waste.

GreenHub has implemented, together with sponsors and partners, 8 projects and work packages with a total funding of nearly 8.3 billion VND, implemented in Phu Yen province from 2019-2025.
