The first ferries departed at 2 p.m. the same day, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
According to the Engineering Corps, to ensure safety, people are required to wear life jackets while on the ferry.
The unit will ensure the ferry runs from 6am to 8pm every day. After 8pm, the unit will conduct maintenance and repair of the ferry and the tractor.

For now, vehicles will travel across Ngoc Thap Bridge or Van Lang Bridge.
According to authorities, using military ferries to replace pontoon bridges is to ensure the travel needs of people in Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts ( Phu Tho province), because the current flow rate is still high.

On the same morning, the flow velocity at Phong Chau pontoon bridge was 3.2 m/s. As expected, when the flow velocity drops below 2 m/s, Brigade 249 will reconnect the pontoon bridge.
In September 2024, two spans of Phong Chau bridge in Van Xuan commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province were swept away by floodwaters. This caused difficulties in traffic and travel for people in Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts, as well as neighboring areas.
At the end of September 2024, the Phong Chau pontoon bridge was installed by Brigade 249 (Engineering Corps) to serve the travel needs of the people. During that process, due to the high water level, along with the large flow rate, the military force had to install the pontoon bridge to ensure safety.
