On the morning of June 8, candidates completed the Math exam - the final subject in the entrance exam for grade 10 of public high schools in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year.
After days of stressful exam preparation, the comfort was evident on the faces of the candidates as they walked out of the school gate.
Candidates commented that the Literature, English and Math exams for grade 10 in Hanoi public high schools this year were quite suitable and they could easily achieve high scores. Many candidates were confident of passing their first choice.
As soon as she saw her daughter, a parent ran over to give her warm feelings. The mother and daughter jumped up and down in joy, shouting, "Mom, you definitely passed." Along with that emotion were tears of joy from both mother and daughter.
"After 2 days of intense competition, my children finally finished their last exam. Regardless of the result, I am very happy because my children tried their best," said Nguyen Diep Minh (Dong Da district).
Knowing that her daughter has a special love for Korean idols, Ms. Luong Thuy Duong (Kim Nguu) prepared a surprise gift: printing a banner with the image of her daughter's favorite idol and bringing it to the exam site to give to her right after her daughter finishes the exam. Sharing her plans after the exam, Ms. Duong said she will take her daughter on a trip to relax. "If my daughter gets 9 points or more per subject, I will keep my promise to buy a car to take her to school," she excitedly said.
Standing waiting for her children to finish the exam, Ms. Nguyen Bich Hang (Hai Ba Trung district) could not hide her emotions, tears silently rolling down her cheeks. She shared that this is not only the most important exam in her student life, but also a milestone marking the maturity of her two children.
"Whether or not your child passes the exam is not important. Above all, they have tried their best and bravely overcome the challenge," said Ms. Hang. To reduce the pressure on her children, the female parent proactively registered for an additional place at a private school as a backup plan.
Coming out of the exam site at Tran Phu High School, Nguyen Quynh Chi (Le Ngoc Han Secondary School) could not hide her joy. Chi assessed that this year's Math exam was much easier than the sample exam that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training had previously announced. Among them, question c on the geometry problem and question 5 had the highest classification.
In question 4, geometry, if you study at a normal level, you can only do a, b, but question c is very difficult. Especially question number 5 has a rather strange format, I have never encountered it before so I am a bit confused," Chi said and confidently achieved 8.5 points or higher.
Many candidates rushed to check their results and calculate their scores with their families.
Thus, by the end of the morning of June 8, candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam at Hanoi public high schools had completed 3 exams: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language. Candidates taking the specialized school exam will take an additional specialized subject exam on June 9.
The admission score for non-specialized schools is the total score of three subjects on a 10-point scale, without multiplying the coefficient with priority and incentive points (if any). This is a new score compared to previous years. For specialized schools, the admission score is the total of four subjects, and for specialized subjects, the coefficient is two, similar to every year. It is expected that between July 4 and 6, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will simultaneously announce the exam scores and the 10th grade benchmark scores. Successful candidates will confirm their enrollment from July 10 to 12.
