Du Gia Commune is located in the Northeast of the province, established on the basis of arrangement with Du Tien Commune. After the merger, the commune has a natural area of 145 km2, with 29 villages, 2,738 households, and 15,338 people.

Duong Thuong commune was established on the basis of merging with Lung Ho commune, with a total area of over 103 km2; the whole commune has 33 villages, 2,468 households, with 8 ethnic groups, of which Mong ethnic group accounts for 95%.
After the merger, Du Gia and Duong Thuong communes quickly stabilized their organizational structure, maintained the operation of the grassroots government and essential services for the people. The two communes strengthened the review and inspection of economic and social development in the villages, promptly grasping the people's situation. The operation of the Public Administration Service Center ensured efficiency, standardizing 100% of administrative procedures on the one-stop system; the machinery and transmission system basically met the work requirements.
Regarding the Commune Party Congress, the term 2025-2030 is being actively prepared by the Du Gia and Duong Thuong Commune Party Committees. The communes have issued plans to organize and establish Steering Committees and Subcommittees to assist in serving. In his concluding remarks, comrade Ma The Hong acknowledged and highly appreciated the spirit of solidarity and initiative of the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations of Du Gia and Duong Thuong communes in post-merger operations. He requested the two communes to continue to promote responsibility, innovate leadership and management methods to carry out tasks; promptly review and arrange staff in accordance with capacity and requirements; regularly coordinate with functional agencies to promptly handle shortcomings and problems right at the grassroots level.
