The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on the morning of April 1 that a delegation from the Russian Communist Party had arrived in the North Korean capital Pyongyang the day before.

The delegation was led by Mr. Kazbek Taysaev, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Russia.

KCNA did not disclose further details about the purpose of the visit.

In recent years, North Korea and Russia have expanded cooperation in many fields such as military and economic, after the two countries signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty in June 2024. This treaty stipulates that the two sides will provide military support to each other when necessary.

Last week, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko announced that Moscow was preparing for a visit to Russia by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, but did not disclose a specific time./.
