Pakistan: Two consecutive explosions in one day, more than 50 people killed

According to information from the non -governmental rescue organization Edhi, a bomb exploded inside a mosque in the northwestern Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 29.

Irfan Bangash, head of Edhi's rescue operation in Hangu, said that around 30-40 people were praying in the mosque in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when the explosion occurred.

Shortly after, the church collapsed. The cause of the incident is still unknown and Pakistan is conducting rescue operations for those trapped.

Earlier in the day, a suicide bombing in Mastung district of Balochistan province, near an event to celebrate the birth of the Muslim prophet Mohammed, killed at least 52 people and injured more than 50 others.

Pakistan has seen a resurgence in jihadist attacks since last year, when a ceasefire between the government and the Pakistani Taliban collapsed.

In July, more than 40 people were killed in a suicide bombing at a meeting of a religious political party in Pakistan's northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
