According to Bloomberg , in an interview broadcast on November 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has entered its 1,000th day and must end by 2025.

“We must do everything so that the war ends diplomatically next year. This is very important,” Mr. Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader said that on the Russian side, President Vladimir Putin does not want peace but does not reject dialogue either, and Moscow is looking for ways to end its isolation.

President Zelensky added that he hopes the new US administration led by President-elect Donald Trump can help end the conflict quickly.

However, Mr Zelensky insisted that Kiev would not enter negotiations or peace from a position of weakness, adding that Ukraine should not be "alone with Russia" in finding a solution to the conflict.

Mr. Zelensky hopes that the US will not take a neutral stance when acting as an intermediary and will side with Ukraine in case Kiev and Moscow start negotiations.

Donald Trump, who will take office in January 2025, has said he wants to find a quick deal between Kiev and Moscow to end the conflict. But he has not yet specified any terms of the plan, including what it would mean for Ukrainian territory controlled by Russian forces from 2022.

According to Kyiv Independent , also in an interview on November 16, President Zelensky said Ukraine was "grateful" for the aid, but had not yet received half of the weapons allocated by the US.

Asked about the challenging situation on the front lines, the Ukrainian leader acknowledged that “the situation is progressing slowly.” He pointed to fatigue among fighters, the slow pace of replenishing and equipping brigades, and delays in the delivery of weapons from abroad.
