At the exam site of Nam Trung Yen Secondary School ( Hanoi ), some Candidates were in tears as they left the exam room, sharing that the English test was too long and difficult, especially the vocabulary and reading comprehension sections. “With only 50 minutes, I couldn’t finish it all. There were so many unfamiliar words that I was overwhelmed,” a female student shared. On their faces were expressions of anxiety and disappointment.”
At the Xuan La Secondary School exam site, many candidates chose the Physics and English combination. While Physics was considered to be within their ability and closely following the review content, English was a big “obstacle”. Nguyen Duy Minh, a student at Chu Van An High School, said: “Physics was easy, I did well, about 9.5 points. But English really made it difficult for candidates. With strange vocabulary and long question structures, I guess I only got 7 points.”
In contrast to the tense atmosphere in some subjects, many candidates remained optimistic. Doan Chau Anh, a student at Tay Ho High School, happily said: "I did quite well on the Geography and History tests, and I reviewed them carefully so I am confident that I can get 7 points or more." Meanwhile, candidate Duong Thi Cham Anh said: "I took the History and Geography tests, so the test was at an average level, with some very difficult questions. Those who take the graduation exam will be discouraged because this test has a differentiating factor for university admission."
Many students shared their feelings of pressure with the English exam. Many candidates said they had taken the SAT before but still found this year's exam quite difficult. There was not enough time to review the test. However, in the same exam session, the Economic and Legal Education subject was considered a "spiritual gift" for many candidates who chose this subject.
In the Natural Science group, many candidates assessed the Chemistry exam as reasonable and easy to get a good score. Biology was assessed as long and heavy on theory. For candidates taking the Social Science group, the History and Geography exam was considered to be within their ability, with many questions of basic review nature.
The atmosphere at the exam sites gradually relaxed after the final exam bell rang. Many groups of friends took the opportunity to take photos with volunteers, preserving memories of the last day of an emotional exam. “No matter what the result is, we must have a photo to preserve our youth,” a female student said wittily.
The end of the exam, whether difficult or easy, is an important turning point for students, closing a long learning journey and opening a new journey on the path to university and adulthood. This afternoon, candidates following the 2006 General Education Program continued to take the final exam in Foreign Language.
